Drilling frame for reverb stealth

It's a Alu Frame, I'm planning to drill where the white dot is on the seat tube, It'll offer the cleanest look whilst maintaining a decent bend radius to the upcoming stealth post, I've attached pic.

I am no engineer but that is mighty close to where the front derailleur mount is welded onto the seattube.

IMO that would make this zone a stress zone due to the stress the frame has been through in the welding process.

Cleverer people can either agree or teach me the error in my ways.

Your brakelines are external so why the fuss to get the dropper internally routed, just out of interest?

i would have drilled the hole on the other side rather. metals are better in tension than compression. even a well rounded hole under compression will fold like taco if given sufficient compressive forces.

further down can also be an option, as the seat tube is straighter with less of a moment midway in that section.

i like the wording of the warrantee statement: " Note: if this hole is made, the warranty for this area of the frame is void."

that's very accomodating of them (logical given its them being supportive of drilling of the hole). Mere hint of a paint scrape tends to get brands saying the warrantee of the whole frame is void. tjops!

I would have put it at the bottom of the downtube, maybe 100mm up from the BB. It may be tricky to route but would be similar to my Trance, which is my first internally routed frame.

I still have lots to learn.......

yes, exactly what i was referring to as the straighter section. i see Liteville is not shy in recommending drilling right near the seat tube and BB weld. its a good angle though, as the dropper plumbing will run neatly up the downtube to the bars.

Valid points, thank you, as for positioning, I do agree, I think maybe a little closer to the bottom of the seat tube, it will make filing the drilled hole a little trickier but it's still possible. As for the fuss, it's a stealth dropper, so internal only, the idea of a standard dropper with a externally routed hose bothers me and I think a dropper post in its low position with a awkwardly bent hose flapping around is unappealing, the rear brake hose that's externally routed still looks neat, it's only the droppers hose that needs to be internally routed initially then follow the brake hose up.

As for going in under the BB, see in the picture, I've looked at possibly going into the seat tube via the internal route exit port (no clue what it's actually called). However after opening it up I noticed the pivot point goes through the entire tube inside so I'm not able to go this route.

forget drilling a hole, who's going to do the first aftermarket spare tube cavity in their R40k carbon frame like the spez stumpjumpers?

a cavity? thought it was just a lunchbox glued to a frame and marketeered as the next best thing since the sliced bread it contains...
