Maybe just put the price in here?

I would love to know how much money these guys are throwing at doping?

Anyone know how much of it they need to use?

Are we talking little money or are they spending a lot on this stuff?

And no Im not even remotely interested in it if anyone was thinking that!! Im a mid field type placer and not interested in being near the front.

I have no idea how much EPO costs, but I believe it's tens of thousands of rands for a short course.

So unless you're a millionaire it's far too expensive to stay on it and train on it like the Euro pros used to do in the LA days. I guess people on a budget have to resort to a short course on the eve of a major race to spike their haemocrit count and make their 'engine' bigger. Still, a privateer who does this before each big race in the season is going to be forking out big money in total - next question is where that money's going to come from (they're not drawing the salary of a corporate CEO, that's for sure).

The link I've got is from a guy who only seems to sell old-school anabolic steroids like injectable testosterone, etc. for gym bunnies. They are apparently relatively cheap for a recreational athlete (R1K - R3K per month depending on whether you're stacking with other compounds). But huge side effects and long term consequences for your health if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

OK fokit, here's the link.

If someone wants to do more than just read it for reference purposes, it's on their head. They can mess up their health on their own account. Leave me out of it.

I think I'm gonna need some 'F*** off fat' after 6 weeks of rest. Or 'Superdrol' but that sounds a bit sh*t.

There is some crazy dangerous stuff on there.

Any good hackers out there? Would be interesting to see the names popping up in that inbox.

If I remember right, you're a medical specialist so you know better than anyone just how hectic some of those products are. And some that are highly addictive too.

This is the sort of list that your average 20-something gym bunnie with zero medical background does his shopping from. And many of our vets in the racing bunches as well, from what we've been told.

Thanks for that, ok so its not something people will just dabble in.

From my gym days I knew many guys doing roids because it was relatively inexpensive.

So someone must really want to do better if they are paying that kind of money for EPO.

I heard rumours on hubland that some of the vets might be doping(unless its just taking a poke at them) which would make more sense because there are some well off guys racing it and Im sure that it would be done for bragging rights.

The worst thing I ever took in my youth was creatine - and the reason was a reasonably young body builder at the time in my town had had a vast length of his intestines removed due to extremely aggressive steroid use. Rumour was he had to use a colostomy bag. From the state of the guy, it could well have been true - but I never really new. I just don't understand the mindset of those who simply don't care about their future. But then I don't understand Frank Truter either. Nor the craziness of a Rampage down hiller. Crazy and awesome are really so close.

* I just started this rumor, its unconfirmed but I wouldn't take anything for granted that you are safe.

Would be fantastic if they tested the VETS category; two riders already caught this year......come on CSA test the VETS, I  can't wait until I'm in the 65-70 category to place?
