Well because then we would see who the best crooked doctor / biggest budget / best doping program is...not who the best competitor / team is.

Your scenario presumes illegal substances have the same effect on everybody which isn't the case.

"Well because then we would see who the best crooked doctor / biggest budget / best doping program is...not who the best competitor / team is."

BUT is this not exactly what we are seeing at the moment.....its called the Tour De France....or the Olympic Games. The big sponsors don't mind too much when their star athlete is up on the podium or when its the big doping news.....they milk the free advertising that controversy brings for sure. Only distancing themselves halfway through the trial....

Urm no, it is not free, by no means. It costs them to get their name up there, and it costs them again when their athletes are exposed make no mistake.

No I don't think so. Sure there are dirty okes(minority) but it aint the 90's anymore. Testers / tests are becoming more sophisticated...we aint seeing record time up ventoux / galibier / huez anymore. If the lance machine got caught surely now one is safe.

Again making it a free for all isn't the answer...if anything the worst possible solution(people will die like they did in the 90's and the results won't mean anything..see my comment about how drugs will affect people differently)

So another 'I've been training my ass off untested throughout my ban and now coming back to show you how good I am/was'?

I see he has been gathering up koms all over the midlands recently.

On that note, surely if someone has been banned for doping their strava account should be blocked for the duration of the ban......It's only a real ban if it is not on strava.

Just flag the person and in reason, say person is serving a ban for doping.

I'd like to see a "test rider" option alongside the "flag an activity" button. Actually, mandatory doping tests for anyone in a segment top 10.

I don't agree with the point of view that athletes caught for doping can not come back and compete.

Some of these guys got caught for some serious drugs (EPO, Testosterone) and some got caught for stuff that they accidentally took and some even took stuff that came off the banned list.

This is the reason there is a hearing. At the hearing the circumstances are taken into account and then a sentence is handed down. For more serious offences the ban is 4 years and for less serious offences 2 years.

The system is not perfect but it kind of works. Some guys did get away with murder and the most far fetched stories, but I am also sure some guys that did not dope on purpose got punished.

Fix the system and trust it.

Why does everyone freak out when someone gets caught doping? I say take the x factor out of it and level the playing field, let them take whatever the heck they want, and rather spend the time and money on the entertainment factor. Better TV coverage, more helicopters, and I want freakin pyrotechnics, set the course on fire...literally!!

I don't know what all the fuss is about. .Logically, how can you stay ahead of the competition thats doping, if you are only running on peanut butter, bananas and a few protein shakes?

Money, money, money makes the wheels go round....

we've tried that before. didn't go so well

Like the syringes for stan's was ok'd...nah

As a pro athlete its as much your job to know what you put into your body as it is to race. contamination is improbable and only serves as a window for dopers to use.

Lifetime ban or lifetime ban by race organizers like the cape epic.
