nice race - very fast

Huge bunches  - "flat" so most of the guys stay with the bunch till the end.

But ...

Very dangerous

Narrow road / no total  road closure - thus traffic (trucks) coming from the front

Guys riding over the white line in middle of road. Bunch force them to go to the back by not allowing any space

Rode last year in VB and we had quit a few scary moments.

So please be careful

And yes, I am doing the race again this year

Huh? They were giving away shoes?

Did I read correctly? Why?

I speak under correction. The way it was explained to me at the exit, was that kids shoes, slippers, sandals were donated to Rotary. They dished out a substantial amount in the community and decided to sell the rest off as they were in dire need for funds to attend to other causes. I was given, not asked, two pairs of shoes. The choice was mine to give a donation in return. They were not selling the shoes. I felt awkward to take the shoes but gave the bloke R40 anyway. These are very cheap shoes and I have no use for them since my baby is 25. the bloke could not get rid of them fast enough. Did not want them back when I offered.

Yeah they where like crocs. The idea was to donate them to someone less fortunate. Only problem is the pair I got can be used as water skies and I have yet to find someone less fortunate with such big feet. I think they a size 12. There was a little piece of paper with them saying its a rotary thing and we must donate them.

I have never been offered shoes at any Fast One road event and I've done a few

Don't worry you never lost out. I'm pretty sure it was the fast one because I was exiting off the track through the suburb and for midvaal I always use that other gate.

I remember getting some slippers (stoukies) the year before last. Dark blue in colour at the exit from the track to the residential area.

I gave them to my maid and she was very happy with them.

I am going to die.... Just being able to ride weekends and not having 'muscle memory' like most of you lot. (old and experienced   :P) Feeling like I am not improving. And then there is the R4S on V-day...joh 116km.

Maybe you need to ride with someone faster than you, that doesn't get tired legs

My 'new' training partners speed is fine (maybe a tad to fast for me), but ja, might need to find someone with a faster recovery.... Do you think that might be age dependent?  :whistling:
