Take the Sola - it's perfect for K2C. I have only every done this on HT 29ers. First on GT Karakoram and Zaskars last two times on Giant Revel and more recently a Talon. You won't regret it.

Agree,

I'll be doing it for the first time on a dually but thats because i upgraded to a dualsusser at the beginning of the year and sold the HT.

If i had an option i would take a HT as well.

I have been a bit stagnant the last while, mostly due to the Argus. I am planning on slowly starting to build a nice base so that by mid July I am conditioned for long distances, and then start building my climbing endurance on long steady climbs like that climb to the top of Jonekershoek.

I want a sub 5 this time round. Last year (my first) I lost about 1:30 while waiting for my boet. This year I am riding alone as he does not want to ride it again.

Also, I plan on having my Camber by then, so those corrugated bits by Diepwalle are not going to be an issue any longer...

My only race before last year was being suckered into the 100 Miler. After that the K2C was a total breeze. After the corrugations in those 8 and a bit hours of suffering/praying/hating my friend, 4 and a bit through a forest and a lovely kloof just flew by. So just do a few really long rides before and all should be great!

Wow!!! Definitely will consider that next year - looks epic.

I'll let you know in two weeks what is was like.

K2C is as hard as you want it to be.

Race it, and it can be tough as there are lots of long climbs to break yourself on.

Ride it, and it can be as easy as you want it to be. The hills are not a real issue. They are either steepish and short or long and gradual. All easily ridden.

I did it 2 years ago on a rigid SS and it was no harder than 94.7 on the same bike and I am a 97kg, 55 year old vetgat.

Pace yourself and have fun.
