But, but Kimmage wrote of it happening...

And you brother wrote what his article the other day about Kevin, doesnt mean its true or any actual investigative work was done on either story.

Unique views could tell a different story...

Then all the posts, tweets etc about "Kevin you still my hero or Kevin you ruined my life" are clearly cause no one actually follows Pro's in SA.

Out poor of both support and none support for David, Rourke, Brandon etc when they were caught cheating. Cause no one follows the Pros.

This isn't really true. More of a "myth" of sorts when you do proper homework on this story.

Hmm not so sure of that - there was a spate of Dutch and Spanish cyclists in their 20's died in their sleep during the 90's. All elite level pros in Europe.

Ok, not really.

Has anyone seen a CSA (not the cricket lads) statement/press release? We have been pulling KE's BS statement apart, but the crux, I think lies in the actual report (if any) from the board.

So many double entendre's in this post...

Can you show articles and proof of that actually happening or is it hear say Not arguing just asking for proof. It was always "said" and "reported" in ways but never actual facts.

Rouxtjie - endvanprent

it is indeed Andrew....little bit of smoke and mirrors, dramatic photo / story and a sprinkle TUE confusion and there you have your plausible violin concerto

Luckily SAIDS work on facts and not violin music

Will have to do some detailed research but this is just straight up out of Google:

http://www.nytimes.com/1991/05/19/us/stamina-building-drug-linked-to-athletes-deaths.html?pagewanted=all

NY Times is pretty authoritative reporting.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2004/feb/16/cycling.cycling1

Again - The Guardian is not a sensationalist rag.

The CSA statement is pretty much the same as the SAIDS one:

Thanks, when you read the Times, it seems that the transfusions (with EPO added for benefit and is normal practice) were the cause of the deaths and not really EPO on its own. This makes complete sense when you look back at how ill Ricco was when he botched up his transfusion, Jesus Manzano was another prime example and admitted and testified about this.

Tyler also goes on in his book about getting a dud bag and being really ill from it.

I am not saying that EPO wont kill you but you will need a Hct of about 80% or more to actually cause death.

Great articles, thanks.

Since you're all about facts and evidence, how about quoting some to back up how great the effect and reach of this story is. Without them, your post above is only opinion.

Ask your average customer who comes into the bike shop on Saturday what he or she thinks about Kevin Evans. Chances are - and this is opinion - most will say "who?"

It's funny that you attack the use of anecdote yet roll out plenty of your own.

Not necessarily due to bad dope, but poor administration of the drug.

Always good to query what is accepted as fact - i will do some more digging now that you have spurred this line of thought .

EPO was a wonder drug back in the 90's as was HGH - and totally undetectable AFAIK. I am not a Doctor just someone who has done some reading so find it all very interesting.

The case for HGH is also pretty interesting in the early 90's. Flo Jo was the poster child of that:
