My sufferscore in the firts 50km 1/10 .Next 30km 6/10 .Last 40km 11/10 and getting cramping advice from the orange numbers .Eish !

You should have gone harder in the first 80km!!! Jeez, what's with this slacking!!

My second outing in VB, them boys are strong. Managed to hang on for a while in the crosswinds but eventually conceded I wasn't going to last and dropped off. There were 3 or 4 of us working nicely until the second bunch caught us.

Now for my rant. There were at least 20 people in that bunch but less than 5 that did any work at the front. Just refused to close the gap in the rolling paceline meaning those of us who were prepared to work didn't get much chance to recover.

The best part is when it then comes down to last couple of meters those same people are sprinting for the line. For 34th place!!! Seriously? You lost the race over an hour ago.....Rant over.

All in all I enjoyed the race despite the wind and happy with my result.

We (the club) rode the Carnival City Macsteel route last week Sunday.

The wind was more or less the same meaning the final 20-25km will have crosswinds and headwinds if it blows the same as these last two weekends.

Happy to be standing at the start/finish for the day.

Same thing happened with the 3rd bunch of VA when we merged with the short distance guys and end up mixing it with us. Was taken out almost 3 times and then I decided I will sit in front and rev up the pace. Nobody was willing to help but they wanted to sprint for 30th place.

Thanks for the rider with the red Time machine who came up front and shared the workload. Just laughed at the guys when they started to pass me 1km to go.

Enjoyed the ride, road condition was good, no fault with organization and marshaling and saw no accidents, even Racetec who i have not always been a fan of came to the party. After losing my chip at fast One i had to get a new one this morning so not expecting it to reflect my details yet, but they are loaded already. Nice to see some old hubbers as well (Joe Low and Slowpoke)

Back for more punishment next year.

One of the better races in GP. Organization was great, parking was a doddle (got there at the crack of dawn). Route was challenging (even without the wind!). No (cold) drinks at the end, marshaling was quite strict, but people (BL) took chances nonetheless. Even with our "local knowledge", the wind still punished us.

One thing that did upset everyone - passing the shorter bunch riders :whistling: . Man, we're they a grumpy bunch ^_^  of people! One lady shouted that WE should stay RIGHT because THEY'RE staying LEFT!! That put a spoiler on the last +-20km. Lost a water bottle at the end of Steps, so rode the entire race with one bottle and 2 water packets, so the cramps hit home just past Carnival. Staggered back home to finish in the top 45% of my group. Will have to go back and improve on the time!

Go GWRT!

O, and i got a 40k PB!
