In the rider checklist they say to bring washing powder, so im sure there will be some provision made. Or just ask the bike wash division to pressure hose spray them!!

:) I also saw that. Popped them a mail now to ask about it.

At the showers there is Washbasins you could use to wash your kit in. Just hang it up outside your tent to dry. (if it's not raining  :whistling: ) We used the guide ropes between the tents to jerry rig a washing line of sorts,

Answer from organizers:

"There are some basins at the shower facility to rinse your own clothes by hand."

So, WesleyR, your suggestion is just as good i would say.

Edit: Sorry Wannabe, didn't see your post.

take 3 kits and zipp bag them and wash them at home.

He was saying he doesn't have 3 sets of kit... hence the question regarding washing kit.

So the weather does not look too bad at the moment. Little bit of rain friday morning but it should be just enough to make the trails better. Then saturday and sunday fine and more rain moving in sunday afternoon. (sorry for the ride guys)

Hopefully that sunday rain stays in the afternoon or we will have a crappy day to Onrus.

Based on the organisers' stage 1 summary, I calculate the compulsory portage is about 2km long.

It's our first year riding this event, but I get different distances talking to riders, some say 5km others say it's as far as 10km?

I'd say 2 - 3km long, definitely not 5km. Quiet steep and slippery in some places if it's wet.

I took the shoulder strap off an old gym bag and when we got to the portage section looped at around my wifes bike, made it much easier for her.
