If I have a seeding of 13.55, that should put me fairly in front, correct?

Yep, a seeding of 0.1 would mean you would be just behind the fastest guy, where 99.9 would mean you are just in front of the slowest.

the different devices all differ always but do think it will be less than last years race. the 600m do sound like about right

After riding the route, the elevation is as follows:

  • Garmin Connect - 545m

I used the lap function to isolate the race route from our overall ride that day. Total elevation of the 150Km ride was 881m.

  • Strava - 555m

    Total (150Km club ride) elevation was 898m, so if I use a proportionate value 898 * 545 / 881 = the estimated Strava elevation.

I use estimated as Strava doesn't split the ride into laps like GC.

Here's the segment on Strava - https://www.strava.com/segments/11689124

I get to hold the KOM for a few days

They have 2 x Carnival 2016 results for you

I sent the results through, so unless the person (who has two results) loaded the results manually, I'm not sure how it's possible to have 2 results for 2016.

A friend on mine did a 2:59 last year and most of his other races he had a better finish time than me, I have fewer races than him but my seeding is better than his??

He got 38 and I got 29??

Not sure but the 2 results (same time) have different indexes

Fsck .. ruined my 'seeding' index ... added the CTCT 2016 ... and my seeding index was 26.x

Added the Fast One (like an idiot on further reflection) ... and now my seeding index is >45 :(

Would have been nice to start a race earlier for a change to see if it makes a difference.

I went back to the list of results submitted and true as bob - there's are 2 duplicate values.

  • James D*** (2:34:55)
  • Peter C****** (3:50:06)

Both in the 103Km event, and both had 2 different timing chips registered against their name - with identical times.

edit: and both names show the Carnival results once on the ASG seeding.

This will be my first race after having had 2 operations in 2016 keeping me off the bike for 3 whole months of recovery.

I did the same thing, I added Dis-chem where i had a mechanical issue from 20km onward, not realizing that they count all race events and not only your best. I emailed them and they removed the bad ride for me. Index is now fixed :)

At this stage I'm okay with my seeding...

This will be my 3rd road race after the 94.7 on the MTB last year(unfit on a MTB = stupid) and the R4S 62km....

So my index for the 94.7 is 67.15 as I did a 5:13:45 (As i said, unfit on a MTB)

The R4S 62km gave me an index of 9.28, I did a 1:56:31

a Road Seeding Index 38.21...

Hopefully this puts me in a group where we can work together a bit and improve even further...

Just a question to those who would know. I only started road cycling a few months back and have only done 1 race. Started in 1E and ended with time of 3:12 for the 107km race. This gives me a race index of 17.52. Since this is the only race index I have will this be used in my seeding for the Emperors race?

Yes, they usually take the Avg of your 3 best races.

So if there's only to to they'll use 2, and if there one they have to use that 1.

That's the way SA Seeding works anyway.

I guess they didn't get the number of entries they wanted, because of all the extensions of entry deadlines emails I have been getting...

To be honest, with all the shlep you have to go though to try and enter its no wonder.(payments not going through, data not capturing). We stopped trying to enter the MTB race after about an hour, this was after almost losing patience with the road entries.

I think it has to also do with issues entering the race.

Am I reading correctly that we have to collect numbers at the venue before raceday??

Long trip - what do the out of towner's do?
