No, because the delivery of ANC T-shirts meant to hand out to protesters never arrived...

Nothing like demonstrating against your own incompetence.

What I wonder (amongst many many sad things) is what path these pathetic excuses for humans followed to get to such a point? How much destruction along the way? And if your father is a prison warder?!?

Scary thought! No-one wakes up one morning and decide that they are going to do such an act that day!

The rape part is horrific and I really hope she wasn't conscious when it happened but it does mean thing - DNA evidence.

These guys are unlikely to be be bright enough to use a condom. This case is high profile enough that the chain of evidence should be intact and the police shouldn't have made any serious errors. Her autopsy would have been done at salt river, they have excellent forensic pathologists and likely one of the very senior professors would have done the rape kit.

If they have caught the right guys they are going to have a hard time getting out of this

Over 50 people are murdered everyday and it would be impossible for media to cover all of them.

Let's see if the media people on here can organise something like that.

Just for one day run all the murders in South Africa.

thats unlikely and as you say impossible....but how about some investigative journalism....

what I would like to see is a double page centre spread in the sunday times on the last sunday of one month that has a picture of every single person killed in the country due to crime...that makes people aware of the enormity of the situation

then another month...like just after easter....a picture for every single person killed on the road

road accident death numbers, or stats on murder victims are easily glossed over..but a visual representation will do so much more

go for it tumbles...you will probably win an award if you do that

Admirable idea for sure...

...but then you'll get criticism from certain corners about profiting from others' grief.

When I was a cub reporter, Mondays would be a round-up with the police stations in the city for crime stats for the past week. It was handy and informative.

That stopped in about 1997. First it moved to quarterly stats, then yearly.

There are good cops out there, and good guys manning the SAPS media liaison desks usually, but the flow of info from the SAPS could be greatly improved.

I got the right kind of punishment for them.

Involves a wooden structure, some petrol, matches, a bench vice with handle removed, and a very blunt knife..... :cursing:  :cursing:

You can fill the blanks in yourself.
