Hairy Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 pssstttt and if I run a RS Monarch ... same mm I would assume? 30% on the fork, does the front not dive on you, or do you just dial up the slow speed compression?in hind sight I am sorry I did not give the DB a spin vs the RS
MoreTrails Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 pssstttt and if I run a RS Monarch ... same mm I would assume? 30% on the fork, does the front not dive on you, or do you just dial up the slow speed compression?% sag is just a starting point to determine what pressure works for you. I run about 3-4 clicks LSC, so no...not to much.I do run at least 2 tokens. I also weigh around 76kgs... With regards to the Monarch, 30% sag as well, but tune the air spring with bands....can't recall but do you have the Debonair can?

Just the good old monarch rt3 ex. Debonair and running 30% sag ... i do think I need to open her up and see how many bands are attached, and then play from that point on. I like the front end up, so been on just under 25% to 20+ % on the dvo, and maybe a smidge too hard on the high speed compression but lekker on the LSC. Recently took her to the neutral setting and found that I now run faster rebound and am getting a more playful ride from her......might just have to reboot and start from scratch again and see what happens. Do love that you can climb on her with the lsc all the way open.

The issues you describe with the shock may be related to the damper. The standard RT3 Monarch cannot take bands, only once a Debonair can to it can you start tuning the air spring. With the DVO, does it not have the OTT setting as well? Yes, the neutral setting will make the bike more playful as it steepens the angles a touch. Will definitely climb better...
Thermophage Posted January 31, 2018 Posted January 31, 2018 Just a quick one ... those of you on Spitty's ... how much sag are you running on your shocks and what sort of length travel are you running on your forks?13mm now with the CC BD Coil IL and 160mm up front. Either in neutral or slack on the dropouts. As said...SAG is JUST a starting point.

OTT, LSC, HSC and Rebound = fiddle a little and see how things go then get lekker with that was good. Let me take a look at the can tonight ... I hope I am wrong and it is the Debonair

DirtyDan Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 I only found this thread today, so here is my contribution.Spitty_1.jpgWhere is that? Lesotho? It's beautiful! The land and the bike... maybe you too Josh0 1
Hairy Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Did a bit of a reboot with the shock last night.Let all the air out and backed out all the rebound.Pumped it up a bit, then cycled the shock ... repeated this process till I got to my desired SAGSAG at 25% vs the 30% I have been running before.Did a ride this morning on the mountain with a fun little descent (Walters Waffle) on Signal Hill Side and the bike felt good. A little firmer mid stroke, yet it felt more compliant in the start .... strange I know.On the climbs though I did feel a little more movement @ 25% vs when I was running at 30% sag....so can only assume that at the 30% mark the suspension was starting to ramp up already.Lot's of guessing going on here, but the bike certainly was a hell of alot of fun to ride, or should I say, a bit more fun that usual. Really love this Spitty! A basic pic as we got to the top of the climb at Dead Mans Tree before heading out to Signal Hill .... the bike is laying down as the freeking wind was too strong to lean the bike up against the tree or the bench!
Josh0 Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Where is that? Lesotho? It's beautiful! The land and the bike... maybe you too Hey Dan That photo was taken on a farm called Pitlochrie, in the New England area. It is my most favorite place in the world. I had my 30th birthday there and got engaged there. Man how much I miss that place now....http://wartrail.co.za.www106.jnb2.host-h.net/pitlochrie/
T-Bob Posted February 7, 2018 Posted February 7, 2018 Just some advice. What ball park figure would a 2016 Spitty that is in really good condition with a CC DB (recently serviced) be worth locally? I know it's down to what the buyer will take but... hunting a frame for a friend and seen one for around R9k
