Firstly, excellent choice! I am still saving to buy this frame one day hopefully. I've heard great things.

I don't know your size exactly, but I'd definitely suggest you take the XL. I see the L has a top tube length of 606 mm, which is definitely on the small side. The 632 tt length of the XL is somewhere between a normal L and XL from other brands. Besides, you are always encouraged to run a slightly larger size MTB and fit a 2-3 cm shorter stem for sharper handling at low speed.

Good luck

Have they sorted out their delivery issues yet? There was a bit of noise back end of last year on delays.

I did lots of research on this already. There still are delays on shipping/building, some people still waiting for bikes from November. Canyon does not take your order and start building your bike, they work on batches so for instance they will build lets say 500 small and have it ready by May then start building another batch and if your lucky your bike will be in that next batch. Canyon don't have in stock its made to order, problem is thousands of other people have also ordered and then start the back logs. So you got to ask yourself how long will a replacement frame take if there is a problem with the one you get. Next is the VAT and customs you going to pay getting it here. Hopefully things will get better with Canyon now that they in bigger better premises but still think it will take time before they get their ducks in a row. As for sizing, you will have to go get all your measurements written down by a proper shop who does fitments. When you do your order online with Canyon they will require them for a perfect fit.

I wonder why no one has tried to get the deal to bring them in here. Maybe because of the reasons you stated? A schlep and then having to deal with the angry customers at the LBS here.

They will not sell to LBS, they will only sell direct to customer.

Simple reason. Canyon ONLY deal with distribution themselves. You wont find a LBS anywhere in the world selling their brand. That way they sell a really good brand at a really good price. They were one of the first companies to do it this way,now you see other manufacturer concept stores popping up all over the place but still cant come close to their prices

But if you want to own one, I have an Aeroad CF with Campagnolo Chorus and Cosmic Carbone's that I am looking to maybe sell. (not on theHub now) So you can contact me. White and in great nic.  (Sorry I know this is a forum, not sure the rules on this.)

But these are awesome, have been a massive fan. BUt very tricky to try and get a bike here in Cape Town, guys are all high German on that side, I have had e-mail correspondence with them but it was tricky. Mine came through my brother, that lives there.

So after weeks of research to replace my Mountain Bike Frame, the Canyon Lux seems to be the best bike for price and Specs, about R27K with Kashima coated Fox shocks.

Has anyone gone this route and secondly, I still on the Large Extra/Large border, are there bikes big or small fits.

I haven't purchased a Canyon myself but I also did some investigating into the cost of getting a bike shipped to SA at the end of 2015. I spoke to one of the sales reps at Canyon and an important extra cost to factor into it is their shipping fee of 400 Euros to SA (that was at the end of last year at least). Adding in the shipping fee and VAT to the listed price for the Lux frameset suggests the cost of getting it to SA would likely be closer to R37k. The shipping fee does at least include full insurance in case something went wrong...

Wait up, what are you replacing it with?

I do see that if you buy and want it shipped to Germany or the UK you pay the 19% or 20% tax respectively, I don't think they charge you SA tax on frames so that is a saving, I can always write off the tax and shipping as a company expense.

But the do not ship to RSA. Only way to get one is  to send to a country they do send to and then import it to RSA.

I think that dropdown country selection is a off the shelf product, many online companies buy as an inhouse CRM, I find it difficult to believe they will ship to Senegal, East Timor, Honduras  and not RSA.

Im sure they can manually tell you what the cost is,

I have tried to contact them, they say they are very busy and a reply can take a few days.

Its amazing what sponsoring a few top teams does for a brand, clients are basically standing in line for a bike and willing to wait months

Thanks for emailing Canyon UK.

We’re currently experiencing a much larger than normal volume of enquiries so it’s taking us longer to respond to everyone. Current response time is around 1-2 days, so we’d ask for your patience during this time. We’d also request that you only email us once while you wait for a response as it will help us to get back to all customers faster.

In the meantime if you have a technical enquiry or question please take a look at the Service Centre and FAQ sections of our website which contain more info on common questions / enquiries:

http://www.canyon.com/_en/supportcenter/
http://www.canyon.com/_en/service/faq.html

We’d also like to highlight a few of the most common enquiries below as these may help you out immediately:

Do you have a showroom? Can I test ride a bike before I buy?
Canyon sells online and direct which means we do not operate a traditional retail showroom like other brands. Our Kingston facility is not a showroom that’s open to the public. For details of any upcoming events in 2016 please follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook or sign up to our Newsletter:

How do I make sure I get the right sized bike?
Canyon has developed its own online sizing system called Perfect Position System which enables you to enter a series of body measurements before recommending you the correct frame size. Full details of our PPS system can be found here: www.canyon.com/_en/tools/pps.html

When will I receive my bike?
The availability of your order is detailed in your order confirmation in the format “Calendar Week X” this refers to the week of the year your bike will ship which can be converted to a date here:
http://calendar-week.net/all-calendar-week-numbers-2016.php

It could ship on any day during the week in question, and once it’s been handed off to UPS they typically take 5-8 days to deliver to the UK.

Which derailleur hanger do I need for my bike?
Our website has a hanger finder tool which will tell you specifically which hanger you need by model and year: http://www.canyon.com/_en/service/schaltaugen.html

Can I change the spec of one of your bikes I want to buy?
We do allow some changes such as cassette, chain-set, stem and bar width but this does vary by model and this is shown on the Equipment & Geometry tab of the product page. We do not allow any changes such as groupset, wheels, forks or other components as these are set for each model in question.

How long does it take for In Stock bikes to ship?
In stock bikes typically ship from Canyon Germany around 2-5 days after placing your order, but this can take longer during busy periods. Delivery then takes a further 5-8 days to the UK.

Issues with Credit Card transactions.
Please note that your credit / debit card is billed on the day your bike ships NOT when you place the order. This can cause issues or failed transactions if your bank are not expecting a large transaction from Canyon Germany on this day. Please make your bank aware of this if possible, and also ensure if you are paying by debit card that you have sufficient funds in your account on the day of shipping.

Rescheduling UPS deliveries.
Once your order has shipped it’s passed directly to UPS for delivery. Should you need to make any changes or to reschedule the delivery you will need to do this directly with UPS quoting the tracking number provided to you by Canyon.

Purchasing a Canyon Bike using the Bike to Work scheme.
At present this is possible for customers in Ireland, but not in the rest of the UK.

Regards,
The Canyon UK Team.
