Oh another thing about the fork,my recommend air pressure settings is 90 psi,had to drop down to a smidgen over 70 just for it to be live able and use up 90% of the travel.

But then it dived .

Pikey,

How many hours are on the fork? Are you sure it's just not tight seals? My RS-1 was super tight the first 10hours. Thereafter it started loosening up nicely till I took it for it's 1st service. There after its been brilliant.

My RLC was also quite tight out of the box. Took about 20hours of running before it settled in.

RS-Totem I owned same thing.

Everything Omnico has told you sounds very plausible. Couple this too tight seals and what you describing it sounds like it may just be a simple running in thing.

Has Omnico even swapped the damper unit just to rule that out? did they give you any kind of feedback

would guess about 9-13hrs . About four rides of 3hrs a piece.

Why would they presumably service it ? Have a hard time believing it.

The only feedback they gave me,was I had the compression on the hardest setting and that's the problem. But they will service it anyway... That's feedback hey?

I used to run a online business .. All my products was grey/china imports. I gave 1 year no question asked warranty on everything (not manufacture, it was inhouse warranty). You simply say: Broken, sent me proof of shipping and I courier new one. I even replaced it if was own stupidity.

In the ~5 years, I had about 0.5% of products warranty claim, so all I had todo is up the profit with 0.5% to cover it.

For these large guys the claims must be even less, so the few bucks to replace product at cost is soon repaid with good reputation... simple business.

Would you replace a frame that randomly started corroding? ;)

Ok so where did you have the compression setting? The fork I tried I didn;t have to dial it up too far, It was probably about 1/3rd the way in to still pretty active and it had about 85psi in it cos at 90 it still felt a bit stiff.

The fork still felt much better than CTD version it replaced and the damping works very well. Not much dive.

But compared to the Pike on my pals trail bike, well ya its chalk and cheese. The 32 is not a trail fork despite it sometimes being found on bikes that are marketed to that genre. I would rather opt for a 34 for a trail bike or the Pike. I'm not a Revelation type rider. Trai bikes get trail forks.

i would strongly urge you to get someone who knows how that fork should feel and can compare it to a CTD and perhaps a SID to give you an alternative point of view. without riding your fork myself I can't really tell whether the forks behaving as it should.

As suggested earlier, perhaps Droo or Iwan would be willing to help give you a comparative pov.

in everyone of the 18 clicks it has,as well as air pressure ranging from 70 psi to 100. Didn't really make much difference at all as unbelievable as that sounds. And every rebound setting possible. The fork is on a bmc fourstroke so definitely not a trail bike.

The fork was returned to me with the rebound closed all the way,not sure if that was to make a point or what. Could I tell you in what postion it was when it got there no I couldn't . This is as much a pain in the @rse for me as it is for them. All my bike has done since February is basically hang on my bike stand.

I have a zesty with a mrp stage on as my trail bike. Was an absolute breeze to set up and was sublime out the box. 2 or 3 rides and the fork was perfect. I bought it new as well.

Granted I know there will be doubt if someone hasn't ridden the fork yet. But have had a few xc type forks and have a good basic knowledge of feel and what to expect.

As much as by my own admission I am no guru even a noob at understanding the inner workings of suspension,I know what feel it should give me. Something is amiss with this fork.

I will see if omnico do actually call me and sort out my fork.

Have just been contacted by a some one in the technical department From omnico. A guy called Bradley asking if I can send my fork back to them so Russell when back on Tuesday can make the call. I believe Russell is a manger and the only one that can make this call.

I also received a reply via email from the sales Director, Vincent Stevens.Asking me to send the fork back for his attention and he will have a senior technician look at the fork again.

I did ask Bradley how many forks have they had that brand new out the box that have had the issue of only being able to use 20% of its travel. He reckons mine is only the 2nd one.

So will box the fork again and send it of and hope that this gets resolved by a replacement fork. I don't want this fork back regardless ,it's a bad apple in my mind and will never be right.

At least I have progress and will hopefully get what i paid for.

So far they seem willing to sort it out and for that I am relieved.

I am glad to see that there may be a resolution to your problem in the 'near' future but still not right that you have had to go to such lengths for so long to just get to this point!

Too soon for #OmnicoMustFall ?
