What is wrong with the Union Buildings. Surely they must have the facilities to host parliament.

F@**en mense wat net wil geld mors........maak my hoogs die MOER in!

If they used existing buildings there would be no need for a tender.

But on the flip side my property value should increase!

Be careful what you wish for. I live next to the Speaker of Parliament and I will gladly contribute to her relocation costs.

If it happened I would sell in a heart beat after all my current training ground would be lost and if i got your neighbor that would be the neighborhood too. Hey, perhaps I could move into her house.

I doubt they have a hall big enough to host all the people? Have not been there in years though.

I'm sure they have enough holding cells for opposition parties that disrupt parliament   :whistling:

The connection to the petition is the fact that we have lost Fountains, Voortrekker Monument and Groenkloof due to the inability of council to deal with crime and now they are about give away the one area that we can still utilize for parliament. If I was a conspiracy theorist I could make a case here.

Right, gotcha. Sorry for the bluntness!

Right next to the Table Mountain trails  .

Good luck with Fort Klapperkop.

The logic and rationale of the uneducated masses (that includes all parties and alliances in parliament) that attempt to lead this dark african country of ours fails to amaze me. Dimwits.

Could also improve safety in Groenkloof and fountains as an unintended consequence

I've thought about this but considering the fact that the fountains area is also being considered for development we could find that we lose more than we gain. Either way we have to use the meeting with Council to make sure that our concerns and needs are taken into account.

They might then use this as an excuse to close the adjacent parks/reserve in the name of security  (and a excuse to 'develop'), property developers have no moral scruples!  and will butter these key players and decision makers bread more than adequately.

What is the reality is there is generally, and specifically in public service,  no vision of the future, ie what about open public spaces for our children and our children's children. Its mostly about short term gain, what's in it for me and my mates and those who 'look after' me  (as the former head of ANC IT and now current chairperson of DD once made clear to me) what deals can I make with public assets that is going to 'empower' me and my cohorts.
