Good bike for Cape Town Trails?

Hey there,

Iv been looking at the trance 2 and the anthem both 27.5. I like that wheel size and won't be looking at 29ers. Coming from an old 26 trek rigid frame. I do really chilled trails around the southern suburbs. I want to start doing Tokai to Elephants eye and single tracks down. The bike I have now is being pushed to the limits. I'm 28 pretty fit and need to upgrade soon. Just not sure which bike to get a more XC orientated bike or trail. I will get a cheap road bike for roads eventually so this other bike can be my mountain/trail bike. I had a Scott Nitrous years back 2005 and the big thing I didn't like was standing peddling the shocks felt like they took all the power, it also felt rather heavy. I'd like to learn to do small jumps and some downhill.

Any other bikes I can look at 25k and under round about.

Thanks very much!

Oh and I also want to start riding trails around Cape Town, Stellenbosch, Durbanville...

Got to agree with Myles. Go with the trance. The extra travel will give you confidence and you won't need to upgrade again anytime soon.

There are probably more capable trail bikes out there, but most are over youre budget.

Bang for buck sees the Trance come out on top for the budget consious trail rider every time.

Maybe have a look at the options from Silverback aswell for youre short list.
