Does this make the geely driver less of a box?

Fight one battle at a time

obviously not, but Ryno clearly ain't done himself any favours if his video goes viral and people start looking at his usual stuff.

about 0 meters if you hit a stationary truck...

That's what I was thinking. Smashed teeth, broken jaw, crushed nose, fractured neck, etc etc etc  and all so you can try to impress people with how fast you can ride with the help of a truck? I don't get it.

Is he risking anyone else's life by slipstreaming trucks? No.

Was his life placed in danger by a negligent geely driver? Yes

Maybe stick to transgression at hand if you want to achieve an outcome that works positively for the cycling community as a whole

Unfortunately, to attain a positive outcome that works positively for the cycling community we cannot just look at one side of the argument.

Actions like those of Ryno are exactly why motorists say that we think that we own the road. For us to insist and demand that they respect us as road users we cannot come across as defiant of rules ourselves.

The Cyclist vs Motorist war cannot be won by one side demanding that the other side changes. Both aspects need to be addressed.

Right so your solution is to play the man and not the incident.

Nope, however the actions of the man should be condemned. His actions effect the credibility of all cyclists in the eyes of motorists.

Death by your own action is the same state as death when caused by someone else.

So if you do something that could kill you but doesn't and then someone else does something dumb that does kill you that person shouldn't be punished.

Cool logic.

Those same motorists who endanger cyclist lives by choosing to drive badly e.g overtaking another vehicle over a solid line

Or speeding in residential areas, or driving under the influence?

Yes it must be them seeing a cyclist jumping a red light that made them want to commit those moving violations.......

Why do you love to play the man? Play the incident. Other incidents should be dealt with separately on merit.

This thread is about dangerous driving on Chapmans peak. Not about slip streaming trucks.

Let us be honest; we have all been here before where you get stuck behind a slowass driver. And you know you shouldn't, but you overtake anyway because it is frustrating as fark doing 50km an hour in an 80 zone.

Sure, we convince ourselves that when we do it, we don't put anyone's life at risk but our own. Although I am sure your loved ones will feel different.

Anyway, we all agree the oke in the Geely is a dwis.

So let us not be dwisses and fool ourselves that we are above dwis level.

You can't slipstream behind a truck and post it on youtube to brag to your friends and then lose your mind about a dude in a Geely.

Let us keep our kant clean.

This thread is about "us" (cyclists) vs "them" (motorists)

In the court of public opinion, it's ALL relevant.

In a similar note, WE are ALL viewed as an amorphous mass of "cyclists" by your average vehicle driver.  One bad apple does spoil the whole damn bunch, unfortunately for US (as we don't have 2 tons of steel, bumpers, airbags etc. to protect us in an accident).
