Global Bike to Work Day - 10 May

I'm in. Wooohooo!had to arrange to leave my car at the office this evening and get a lift home.

I commute pretty much every day anyway, Just need to actually log this ride as a commute though as I usually just leave them as rides.

Unfortunately I don't know of a place to safely store my bike, or I would ride to work more often - it is probably not even 3km.

 

My wife works at the same place though, so for tomorrow I will just put the bike in the car during the day.

Imagine if I logged Strava 250m rides everyday. Takes longer for the GPS to find the nearest satellite than the actual ride.

LOL mine aren't quite as short but they not exactly far at just shy of 8km directly from home to work. I usually leave early and do a fair amount of riding before work but on the days i just go straight in my team mates have been known to have comments about giving me kudos

I kept my bike next to my desk once when I swopped bikes last minute one morning and forget my lock.

Not unless I want the other two people in my small office annoyed due to my 29er resting against their chairs

 

There is usually a security guy near the parking area, but I am going to check for other alternatives before I go that route.

At one stage you were looking for a route from Midrand to Modderfontein - did you ever find something? 

 

Edit: when they finish building the Modderfontein hospital - will be a nice cut through the dodge bits of Linbro Park into Sandton

You can stop at my office, we have a full gym in the office. Probably only 5 - 10km after the shower for you to ride then

 

There's no real direct route, you have to go either Allandale or Old Pretoria.

 

Where are they building the hospital?

I have entered the challange but weather her tommorow is not looking favourable.  Will see.  If it is not raining for the morning as predicted, I will commute by bike as per normal lately and don't mind getting wet on the way back. However if it rains in the morning I will have to miss out.  Don't want to get to the office drenched with no place hang everything out to dry.
