V12man Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I've also got a big difference, but have got a planned visit to the Cardio soon. Interested to hear what he has to say.You are going to have to convince him to let you go as high as possible on his treadmill.... at my advanced age they don't like that idea - especially when you tell him you are shooting for about 190+ ......
Noshow Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 If you are fit, surely it's better to be able to push your heart rate higher. All other things being equal, you can work at a higher level. Getting fitter reduces your resting heart rate and your heart rate for a given work load, but not the max?
Veebee Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Mine is 25 beats higher. I go for a check up and stress test annually. With all the noise around Discovery and Heart Rate I think a IQ test would be more appropriate for participants. With the current level of 600 (haven't heard of anyone with a higher target) a Parkrun (walking the dog) without heart rate gets you 300 points and collecting 2 x smoothies a further 200 points (also no heart rate) which leaves only 100 points. How difficult can it be? exactly, not difficult at all.
BarHugger Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Time for a proper stress ECG.... I would suspect you have a conduction anomaly.....Stay away....this thread is for the experts......google kings......
BarHugger Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 The actual debate should be.......what is your operating average for the engine you have.......
V12man Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 exactly, not difficult at all.Only difficult for the Sheriff.... who has a valid point.... his diesel's idle is a bit low for the disco kings...

Then do not go to the Cardiologist I went to see 18 months ago. One look at the Technician assisting him and I was almost at my max before I started !
deanbean Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Then do not go to the Cardiologist I went to see 18 months ago. One look at the Technician assisting him and I was almost at my max before I started !My cardiologists tech also do a good job of pushing the hr upYou are going to have to convince him to let you go as high as possible on his treadmill.... at my advanced age they don't like that idea - especially when you tell him you are shooting for about 190+ ...... I'm also old[emoji23] [emoji23] so have the same problem, esp when I can get to spike at over 200
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Only difficult for the Sheriff.... who has a valid point.... his diesel's idle is a bit low for the disco kings...yeah, his resting HR is lower than my shoe size. And with cycling, he'll hardly ever hit his age related 80% - unless he does Atta on his single speed rigid again and is going for the win...
Andrew Steer Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Then do not go to the Cardiologist I went to see 18 months ago. One look at the Technician assisting him and I was almost at my max before I started ! I need to go see a Cardiologist... contacts please
anthemic Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I'm 40 and maxed out at a club race last week at 206! Formula doesn't apply to me at least Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
carbon29er Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Time for a proper stress ECG.... I would suspect you have a conduction anomaly.....I have a 16 valve motors with VTEC. High revving but little torque low down. Saw one 10 years ago after Ian Rodgers at BikeMax thought I had problems. Had to run, FFS, on a treadmill. Max was then 3 beats higher than now so I have lost a bit. But resting has remained constant at 42 bpm, when fit, for those 10 years. My test has remained the same for 10 years, same hill but I get higher up it before I puke now than I used to. So I'll save my Rondts and maybe die trying to prove me right.
BarHugger Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Only difficult for the Sheriff.... who has a valid point.... his diesel's idle is a bit low for the disco kings...He has been training with Carpet......he tells me their heart rates differ on average by 20-25 beats per minute....he does seem to tick at low beats.....

Albatross Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Lots of noise around the Vitality programme makes me wonder what the actual variances on heart rate are for active cyclists on the hub. 2 simple questions in the poll.Do you work for vitality
