Brace yourselves...a PF rant is about to start....

PF - dumbest idea since Girvin Flexstems. Who in their right mind decided that carbon would make a good wear surface? It's pretty soft stuff and is prone to micro wear.

After a few wet rides PF stands for Permanently F*cked.

There is nothing more disheartening as a bike mechanic than when you remove the drive side crank and half the bb comes out with it....

Sure you save 30g but at what cost? A new R15-R40k frame? Plus your sanity from the CREAK CRAAK CREAK CRAAK CREAK CRAAAK.

Grrrrraaaaaaarrrrgghhghghgh I hate PF30.

Article is dated November 2015.  What's happened since?

Not much that is very visible - couple of bespoke frame builders have started using it on metal frames - nothing I have heard about on carbon frames.

Guess it might take a while to surface from the major brands.

pffft I don't know what everyone is on about.

that flush sitting mechanism works wonders in the wind tunnel

marginal gains and all....

I blame crackenfail for this tos to be honest...they most started the move against BSA and then every manufacturer had to step up the "technological advance"...Some guys like santa cruz luckily went "meh, its *** tech, we are not going to bother"

This is old news but I really hope it takes off cos press fit BB's are absolutely horrible to align correctly. Ease of fitting the cups is negated by the amountof time require to prepare the frame correctly and this is seldom done correctly at the factory where time seems to be better spent on painting the frame only for that paint to be faced off and chipped by frame facing tools. Its just silly.

The problem is major brands acknowledging that it was a kuk idea in the first place, and that they did it just to save money on tooling and manufacture.

I think they did it because it makes their carbon moulding process easier - but I can see if they can mould a pre-threaded metal bit into the carbon this might be equally easy for them.

The only reason they will do it is if it reduces their warrantee claims....

“this has the potential to become the one single standard for the entire industry. It makes that much sense.”

Fitted 2 BB90 yesterday on the same model frames and the one went in with a hassle but other just fell in.Sounds good that one went in harder but those wearings will wear faster and the other will creak.

This was a article from last year already and still haven't seen or read about other companies using T47.
