amr63 Posted March 7, 2018 Share Here’s something to make you smile (or frown?) and help get you over the midweek hump:Rules to being a Triathlete: http://badig.com/2012/03/the-rules-to-being-a-triathlete/ Based on these rules, I’m definitely not at triathlete (yet). Neither am I a cyclist: http://www.velominati.com/the-rules/ However, I do have a healthy respect for the Rules and those who obey them ???? But wouldn't want the pressure that comes with a bike like that. amr63
Craai Posted March 8, 2018 Share https://www.lamborghini.com/en-en/news/lamborghini-signature-unique-triathlon-bike Lamborghini Cervelo P5X oh dear...I’m sure I won’t embarrass myself riding something like that. Looking at a solid 25km/h avg on that rocket IceCreamMan

EmJayZA Posted March 14, 2018 Share So, this is a rather newbie question, but I have only recently started riding. My new road bike has just over 2,000km on it (and therefore my tires), and not sure when to replace my Vittoria Rubino Pro tires. They don't have any nicks on them where the tire makes contact with the road, but are very smooth. I found one spot on the side of the tire where I can see some metal mesh (not large at all). I must have made contact with a pavement somewhere, or a rock. How does one know when to replace tires? Also, I am going to swap out my 23mm tires for 25mm when I replace them. How can I tell if my frame and components can take the bigger tires? Edited March 14, 2018 by EmJayZA
shaper Posted March 14, 2018 Share Not sure with regard to your Vitoria's as have never used them. Maybe they have similar wear indicators to that of the GP4000. 2 purpose made holes on the tread, once these have been worn away then time to change http://conti-tyres.co.uk/tread-wear As for frame able to take 25mm, probably best to check on manufacturers website. What frame is it? From Vittoria FAQ https://www.vittoria.com/faqs/ Determine when to change the tire You can evaluate the tire wear checking its profile: when there is a notable discontinuity (like a step, or edge) between central tread (wearing when you ride on straight) and side tread (wearing in corners) that you can feel when starting to lean for a turn. This is the time to change your tire. It’s also suggested to change the tire in any case the carcass is exposed. dave303e Posted March 14, 2018 Share https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elO-CnPIBb0 how awesome would this be?! Or you could train a bit harder and do the Patagonia Expedition race in November- Callded the last Wild race for a reason, and it is just a little bit longer at 600-800km

The Conti tyres look good - so going to give them a look as well. My frame is the Cervelo S2. Will check out their website or contact the local distributor. Now with 700x25c tire clearance so that you can chase top speeds over any road conditions.https://www.cervelo.com/en/road/s-series/s2/engineering EmJayZA

How are the GP4000s to change a puncture? I still battle a little to get the tyre off the rim with the softer Rubinos. Do you think there is a major difference between the two? Could just be a matter of practice. And I would love race wheels, but got to save for that tri bike. Hehehe. GP4000 only tyres I use for training and racing, no problem fitting.... probably just need to practice. You not bought the bike yet???..... what's the point of a fancy tri bike if you don't have race wheels ..... must have hehehehe
