Wait till you see all the okes drafting Ben Swift up towards Suikerbosie! :P

He must feel like a duck with a bunch of ducklings following him.. I would mess with them if I were him.. ride zigzag, slower then faster..just for the giggle.

This will be my first DC, but done 2 one tonners (170km) and Double CTCT (220km) so  noob question:

Just looking at the times people do (average speed etc) Is the DC really that much harder than the  one tonner or double CTCT?

Depends who you riding with, it can be much harder if the other 11 okes you are riding with are a bit too strong and make you sit at 90% of max HR.

The stops make it a lot easier, but with everything it really depends how hard you hammer.

My folks said they would never do DC, now at 60 they are smashing their third in team pure savage compact crank. They see the One tonner as being harder.

Just dont get too excited up the climbs in the first half.

What so they say.. it never gets easier the hurt just happens at a faster speed.

This tread is becoming like a GT thread, all eyes fixed on it..

I can't wait for the event to start so I can follow the progress... our very own GT type thread

Just interesting that the average speed is so much lower on the DC than one tonner  .. but I'll see saterday why :)

No idea about the team, only met 3 of them, so going to be interesting for all of us.

Karman you cant really compare 2 races based on distance alone.

Also remember that the DC is a 12 man team race and nothing close to the 1 Tonner where you sit in a massive bunch from start to finish with minimal work if any on the front.

Also the 1 tonner is fairly flat except for Helz and Botmaskloof as where the DC throws some heavy rollers after the 160km feeding zone. The 3 sisters will really test the legs after 180kms so keep some in reserve.

Hope to see you at the race bud.

Assuming forecast stays this way and there's not much wind on Saturday, rekon 80/60 deep sections would be good idea, as opposed to riding with ksyriums?

Never realised there are so many gay porn aficionados in cycling.

Eddy Boss on the other hand, saw the light.

Not always - mine was quicker, and I expect the same again this year (ouch!!).

Our team philosophy is much the same - the first time we all ride together is from the accommodation down to the start line.

You, however, have a team of riders that can be counted as amongst the best in the world, some riding with top pro teams and a palmares that needs no apologies or explanations. Through them together for a high speed team drag race and it just clicks.

Not sure how you and and that Swift bloke crack the nod though.  Actually your post race DC blog does make good reading.

I am packed and fly down tonight. Truly am excited. To everyone riding on Saturday good luck, may the wind be at your back.

If you see a black Ritchey Swiss Cross, come say hi.

That Swift bloke got his dates wrong this year and won't be joining us. [emoji22]

Hopefully we've learned enough to make do without him.

I have no idea why they keep inviting me back either. Certainly not for my bike skills. I suppose someone has to be the official story teller...

The team dynamic and rider synergy (or lack thereof) is what makes the DC challenging

As long as you can hold your line steadily and not switch your teammates ⚠️
