Nico, you'd better start playing nice or you won't get an invite to the event I'm planning. It will be exclusive, so gnarly you will **** yourself stukkend and you will need to befriend the right people - starting now. I'll also need your bio passport #Enduro results, Vitality points and every Strava segment you've ever ridden.  And make sure you bring a big bag full of goodies for me to eat and beers for after.  Really something to aspire to.

Might take a while to organize - I'm not in the MTB tourism industry so I don't get out into new areas as much as I'd like.

Watch this space :-)

I don't Strava, very seldom race, think I'm on silver status Vitality and my bloodwork shows anti-bodies for Bilharzia (I am not even kidding  ).  So I guess that's me out of your event.

I have a cool Instagram account though.  Gotta count for something.

If you want technical riding, forget the local enduro races (excluding Ezelenduro of course), go enter an XCO. The sad thing is, I'm not even kidding.

Just the way XCO is meant to be!

Hey guys, Dan here-one of the 'organisers' of the event and just wanted to clear a few things up.

First off Headshot (Tim, I gather? Sorry, I don't spend much time here and figuring out who is who is a nightmare!), thanks for all the great advertising of the EzelEnduro! It's almost like you are part of our secret club and doing all our marketing for us :D

Secondly, You spent 3 hours with me in person on Saturday morning-why didn't you just ask me about the Enduro and if you could do it this year?? I've never ridden with you before so have no idea about your fitness or riding ability but I'm pretty sure I would just have said "Sure, I'll send you a link to enter as soon as we have one".

Thirdly, our invitational process goes something like this;

-Invite the same riders as last year as it worked so well with that bunch of people

-Get them to invite anyone they think may enjoy that type of riding

-Try to invite a few more top riders from other provinces as we'd love to have them down here

-Invite a few more people that hear about the enduro and email us and ask if they can join (as long as we know their fitness/skills level is up to scratch)

What we're trying to do is make sure everyone who comes along has one of the scariest, hardest and funnest adventures without putting them in a situation that they can't handle. Our idea of this invitational process is the best way we could think of, to to do this.

Dan, I presume the EFT for my marketing fees is on its way?

Perhaps we can agree to disagree on this but I think its a bad message to send out an unavailable FB link with the words "befriend the right people"  in the heading. Its exclusive right there. Reminds me a bit of the Zupta modus operandi :-).

Thanks to this thread you have been able to clarify exactly what you meant i.e what the criteria are. Why not start with those criteria instead of the way it was done? I certainly didn't get the impression from the responses I got on FB that that's how I should go about it. This thread has been filled with self serving replies from people trying to interpret what the reply I got meant. That can't have been you intention surely - to create confusion?

One final point - on Saturday at Tokai, there was no Ezelenduro on my horizon or yours it seems - the FB stuff only came out on Sunday or Monday. You had the opportunity during those three hours to mention it but didn't.  Touche?

Quite right you are - although the Helderberg Enduro does add a bit of tech to the equation. The big difference with XC is that you ride the same track over and over and have a chance to practice it repeatedly before you race. Therein lies the biggest difference to enduro. That and the speed factor which can make even an easy trail dangerous...

The WP gravity enduro this weekend will have plenty tech. I can't even BEGIN to tell you how good Steilte is right now.

forgive my noobness,

whats the difference between Steilte and Helderberg? i assumed they same place?

No, just that the incentive is not to race balls to the wall on the tricky descents when you spend far more time climbing....

I didn't create the FB page and  I'm not sure about the message about 'befriending the right people' . I didn't get that message so I must be on the outside ;)

The page doesn't say that at all on it as far as I can see.If you took offense to that, then so be it.

At the end of the day we just want to ride our bikes and have fun so I'm not going to comment further except to say that I don't want to spend anymore time discussing this rather silly topic of how to invite people to an adventure. You can't please everyone all of the time...
