Youth of today...

going to ride it for 3 weeks more and see how it feels otherwise im already used to the bike

Please give it a bit longer than 3 weeks. Here's why: a few years back a friend of mine bought himself a Spez Stumpjumper 29er and it took him the better part of four months to get used to it as he went from a hard tail to a dual sus and from 26 to 29. Some times getting used to a specific bike takes longer. When I switched from 26 to 27.5 I had a period (about a month or so) where I struggled with the turning circle and with the aerobic demands of the bigger wheel size. Give it a proper amount of time to see if it is really a size issue or not. And you're young, you might still undergo a growth spurt too and that might change the dynamic again.

I saved for the bike for over a year,So i paid for it

Very well done! There is a lot of adults that don't have that level of discipline. Don't waste the effort of your saving by unnecessarily selling your bike - once again be absolutely dead certain that the bike is the wrong size before doing that.

Otherwise my advice is the same as everyone else's, ride your bike, it's a very very good one!

Double thumbs up for saving up (so long) for your bike!

Morewoods are a bit short in the reach department. In other words: old school geo.

Post a sideways photo of you on the bike so the DH crowd can give their thoughts.

Mongooser, well done for saving up and buying the bike yourself... Really  - well done .....

But just some advice .... just ride the bike a bit and then make up your mind.

But to be honest, as has been mentioned here by a number of guys. You are going to battle to find anything shorter than that Morewood.

Remember the following:

1. You are growing!

2. The Morewood came in a Sm/Med or Med/Larg in 2009. with the Sm/Med having an effective toptube length of 570mm.

3. My wife is your height and she races on a SMALL 2010 Trek Session 88 - Effective Toptube length = 571mm - it was ridden by a UK lady before her that was even shorter!

4. The 2007 Demo 7 you were after has an effective toptube length of 550mm for a small or 575mm for a medium. BUT .... you CANT FIND ONE IN SA for your price bracket ....

5. A SMALL 2009/2010 Mongoose Boot'r has an effective toptube length of 589mm

---------------

Then point 6 - and this is KEY!!!

6. You are 14 - so you would currently race in Sub Junior (13-14) - and would be moving up to Youth (15-16) next year.

Here in KZN we have Sprogs (guys who are 12 years old) riding on the following bikes.

2 guys on 2016 Lapierre Zesty 327 (Smalls) with 650b wheels! - toptube length = 585mm

1 guy on a 2007 Mongoose ECD (Small) - Toptube length = (unknown - but similar to a small Bootr so 589mm)

1 guy on a 2015 Specialized Demo (Small) - Toptube Length = 577mm

..........

Then if you look at the guys who are in Sub Junior (your category) and are 14 years old.

1 guy is on a 2015 Trek Session 9.9 (MEDIUM) - 586mm

1 guy on a 2015 Specialized Demo (Small) - Toptube Length = 577mm

So you DONT need to get a smaller bike dude..

Just ride that one that you have - I know you will love it when you get used to it.

See the pics of the youngsters racing in KZN.

All of them managing their bikes perfectly - the only one whos bike looks a bit big for him is the guy on the Black Mongoose with yellow wheels - but remember he is 11 or 12 - and not 14 like you are. ....

So - just get out there and ride your bike with pride knowing that you saved and bought it all by yourself.

Might go to heldeberg this weekend, will see how i can hit the big stuff on the bike

Yes come to Helderberg. We're running a shuttle day on Saturday. R300 for uplifts from 9am-4pm. You'll learn a lot and you'll have a LOOOOOTTT of fun. Oh yes and there will be free boeri rolls and cheap coolies. You can't have any of the beers.

The 08 Izimu (the one you have) only came in a long and a short. It was the last year where they had the adjustable geometry. (The 3 sets of holes for the shock mount). Just btw .yours is an 08 not an 09. But the 08 was the best one anyway.

It's a GREAT first timers bike. The simplicity of it means your maintenance is cheap. The frame only has 2 pivot bearings and I never touched mine. The frame itself is very strong. I've not heard of many of those cracking and my old one is still going strong.
