I need this piece...can you help?

Not sure what happened but my wife went riding today and the chain slipped of the bottom jockey wheel and ended up in between the jockey wheel and the inside part of the cage.

She realised when she free wheeled, the chain came off but could not see why this was happening.

So this piece is now a bit chewed up by the chain. Does anyone have a shimano xt rear mech (long cage) that they want to chuck away?

Those backplates are sold separately and should be in the R150 range. That is if any of youre Lbs's have or can get stock.

Had the same problem and could not get a spare.  Eventually had it welded with an extra piece at a specialized welding shop.  Cost me R150.  Still going today. If this helps.

Replace your pulley wheels and that gouge won't matter...

was just thinking the same, my RD looks the same on the inside and still works fine

Yeah ride that plate...nothing wrong with it unless its broken in two...a little bit of scuffing won't affect it.

Like Droo says replace your jockey wheels and make sure the derailleur is running straight as this is a common thing, the lower pivot/cage takes a bit of a knock and twists, which allows the chain to run at an angle and wear the jockeys and eventually jump off.

Thanks for the advise gents. I have two hubbers that offered me a spare back plate. Thanks.

I am going to take a run first at a few LBS okes and see how far I get. If I don't come right, I wil contact the hubbers that offered to help.

PS: I think some missed the part where I said: "my wife's bike..." So leaving it as it is, is not an option for her. (What can I do, I like her a lot!)

PPS: It is a bit more than just scuffed. Chain grinded away half of the thickness of the back plate.
