Thought should post this for out of towners. Locations of bootleggers in Cape Town. Download the app and get a free copy after every 10. Think will have to do a ride where we do all the booty calls in Cape Town.

Also if arrive before 8:30 get the coffee half price! (Also after 16:30 the beer is half price )

Stay away from the one in Kalk Bay, which is always packed with Savage roadies

I would go via waterfront, under the fly overs, onto N1, marine drive off ramp, then onto the cycle path to Melkbos. Stopping for coffee on the way.

I was actually plotting the route like that, but wasn't to sure about the section from the waterfront via N1 to Marine Drive off ramp.

Is it safe to cycle that section? Not just worried about cars? Definitely doing the coffee stops, well maybe a beer might slip in there somewhere  :whistling:

On a Sunday morning should be very chilled, we ride it regularly. I heard you can go through the docks now. But that's a rumour

Question to all the experienced CTCT riders and people knowing the Cape relatively well...

I'm planning to ride back from the finish to Melkbos as we're staying there with friends.

What would be the safest route back? Or is it a bit to risky?

There will be many others doing the same thing, so I would just join up with them and ride the cycle lane all the way from where it starts in Green Point. You basically ride the "fan walk" to the Station, duck past the Civic Centre (Argus Start) and on the cycle lane. It is only the first part from town to Paarden Eiland that has some crime problems, the rest all the way to Melkbos is safe. If you are in a group of 3 or 4 riders, I would rather ride there than the N1, which i find too scary.

3 weeks to go and the wind is mentioned. Gee whiz guys.

I wonder why the credible weather sites only do a nine day forecast. That changes twice a day.

After 26 years of doing this race I have learnt that even when I wake up at 03h00 on the 2nd Sunday(well normally) in March and having a look at the wind means nothing. It can change in the following hours. I have given up bothering and just ride what ever comes my way. Besides, we all have to ride in the same conditions anyway.
