I think pmb records faster speeds....nige???

PMB were generally in the 65's to low 70's coming into the tabletops.

I think Needles hit over 75 one year - but in general it was high 60's

Anyone else see and have a laugh at the spat between Rachel and Claudio and Rob. She felt that that Claudio's comment that she is good because she rides with her bro was a bit off colour. I actually agree with her - she probably works harder than any other woman racer and to have her performance reduced to "well she rides with Gee" is poor. A good commentator should have the background info on the riders and how hard they work methinks.

Yeah because the other ladies sit and drink tea and read the Vogue all day while she's doing burpees...

She's naturally just more gifted and is much stronger than the next lady but don't tell me riding with Gee and Dan all your life has nothing to do with it.

She didnt say it had nothing to do with it.Silly to suggest she did. Talent alone doesn' t get you the medals: ask Brendog or Hart. So on the whole, I dig where Rachel is taking this instead. Even natural talent needs serious honing to be of genuine value at their level.

Indeed. Like with most things, she could have said it better, but on the whole I agree.

better? i think this was one of her most lucid comments yet. Personally, i think they should shove a keyboard under her nose every time she needs to comment on anything. Backspace is definitely her best friend :P

What she really needs is an interview double.....

they say it every single weekend - annoys me...but they are right. you might say...but what about Tracey and Mick...but the trek team train together all the time - wheras tracey and mich dont. When you riding with boys you see how to do things differently..it is as simple as that. But yes - she is talented too - and that helps

her PR skills, on the other hand, are atrocious.

HAHAHAHAHA! Yeah, you're right. Suppose I was reading it in her voice, so that may have influenced my opinion on it all..

But yeah. Her kicking butt has a lot to do with the training she does. I'd like to see that, tbh. Like the series that Nino & Emily put together... One on her year / training / preparation for a race etc. "a week in the life of"

Would go a LONG way to dispelling the notion of her performing well and riding fast "because of her brothers" - though I'm sure that at least has a small part to play. Sibling rivalry etc.

Or just a standard reply during interviews.

"I'd like to thank my sponsors, team, family and friends. It was a tough race, but I am satisfied with my result."

Then she just walks away.

I am pretty sure that they all train together. At least they did on some of "The Atherton Project" series that they filmed. They all trained with Darren Roberts and I don't recall there being a separate girls routine...

No doubt that she puts in the work... Training with her brothers isn't exactly going to do her any harm......

So Tahnee, Manon, Ponpon? They just sit around all day shooting the breeze and doing their nails? Someone should tell them they need to start working harder because then they can beat Caster, agh sorry, Rachel.

Exactly. It's definitely a mitigating factor, but she'll also have to train far harder herself.

I think it's a case of marginal gains over a very long period of time. No way you're that dominant in such a physical sport without putting in the hard yards in the gym as well.
