Why did Louis not ride the special Olympic Merida's?

Was wondering during TDF why he was on the Reacto and not the Scultura?

Louis is apparently extremely fussy about his steeds and their setup.  During the TdF he apparently had 9 bikes ready, all set up differently.

As suspected he did the short course and probably would've ridden it at xco pace.= full gas.

Does anyone know why riders can only compete in the TT if started in the road race?

Is the reason why Tom Dumoulin got off after 15km.

 

Two different disciplines as far as I am concerned

A lot of talk that he made the wrong call skipping the road race.. but had he been there and been in the mix towards the end he would've also taken a lot of risks on the descent and I don't know if I would've survived had he crashed.[emoji6] I'm sure after seeing GVA win he must be thinking mm.. also a rumour that he had the xco in his mind few years ago already.
