Agree, powdery already don't see it lasting long in summer with all the traffic it's taking

Think Thermotage will get his technical trail after all

And yes, it is way more fun now that it's getting blown out.

I've seen some wheel tracks heading into the bossies on the side on those steep switchbacks

Lots of fun times there for some :nuke:  :nuke: :w00t:

bunked work for a quick ride through hillcrest, conters, hoogies and trail z this morning. Agree it is already a dust bath both on the cobra, descent into trail z and parts of Patrick's psycho plunge. Most of trail z has compacted nicely and we'll have to take a look at retention options for the berms where people have gone farming.

Also almost rode over a cobra on trail z - managed to bunnyhop sufficiently to avoid squashing the poor guy but if he cranks his cerebral ganglion into gear, he'll find a safer suntanning spot in future!

As I said, we have built the initial line at Trail Z, but there are so many more options available for future builds, which we shall look at next winter.... Maybe even look at something Bennet and I have our eyes on and in mind for those Pinners wanting real gnar.... watch this space..

Obvious when riding there this weekend there are loads of potential for more trails, didn't even knew there were so many hills hidden away behind hoogekraal! Looking forward to see what the club comes up with there

Yo, no idea ...... was my typical MTB self and was greeting and chatting to anyone that was willing :P

A couple of Scalpels on the trail that morning. .... were you riding with another rider with colourful baggies??

Oh okay

No, I was solo, man (my job involves dealing with people every day ????)

A few of us are thinking of trying the Cobra, but the only thing we have to go on is Dorsberg descent and the blue loop at Contermanskloof (cheeky corners etc).

We've heard some wicked tales of the Cobra, but when I watch videos like this and I wonder just how much the camera is hiding because it looks like everything can be rolled over no problem.

Am I missing something, is it much worse than the other two mentioned?

Everything can be rolled over but it will catch you out if you are not paying attention. There are those proper riders who will say it's an easy trail but to a middle of the pack mamil like me it is tough enough to provide a proper challenge.

My mate who is a better technical rider than I am bust his collarbone there in December -- it's ridable AND is a definite step up from both the other trails you mention.

Gosh that’s a mouthful [emoji1]

Thanks I’ll check them out.

off topic but don't look past the GoPro Hero 7...the 4k 60fps hypersmooth stabilisation almost replaces the need for the gimbal....#justsaying....(my Garmin was recently trashed proper at the top of Iron Monkey  )

Back on topic...Cobra is a great run, you can really open the gas and not worry about any major features or gaps, there are plenty of smallish lumps and bumps that you can get air on but the B-lines past them are faster....the corners are all pretty straight forward except the one where you drop off the rock dome into a right at the bottom where line choice is key...from 1:08 in that 2nd clip....don't do what I did and stay low, you gotta go high over the dome and stay on the outside or you get trapped in the marbles in the inside of the corner...

BTW take care at the combo of kickers right at the end, seen quite a few OTB's there as they tend to kick your arse up...keep left to stay on yr bike!!!

Just do it....take it easy and scope it out for the first couple of runs and you'll enjoy it....and the climb back up!!

Edit: If you do go..... pickchures or it dinnt happin!!!
