Hey guys need some advice

I've recently started cycling again and need a new bike. I asked before but didn't get replies. I am looking at a Merida big 9 and Titan Expert 29er. Specs are pretty much the same except the Merida is lighter. What would be the better optionnlooking at group set?

As Patch said the better bike would depend on the price and component specification. Merida is a huge international brand with a good reputation. Titan is a smaller newer brand but Ive personally heard no problems about them. Post the details of the front fork, brakes type and gearing and we can give you a better informed reply.

Budget? Specs list? As much info as possible will help.

The guys will advise but we don't all carry the specs of each model in our heads. The Merida Big 9 for example has multiple variants with different spec levels. So it would help if you can either post website links here or cut and paste the spec. lists for the exact models you are considering.

If your choice is purely on brand then Merida would be the way to go.

Titan is Merida's "cheap" brand. So if the price are the same i would double check to make sure the specs are the same but if the only difference is the weight take the merida.

 

But usually for the same price a titan would out-spec a merida, purely on componets.

I assume that if you are looking at the Titan Expert you have compared it to the Merida Big Nine 40-D. I wont go for either of the two, but will consider and recommend you have a look at the Silverback Sola 4. Much better value for money and better group set. It should fall in the same price bracket as the Expert.
