Sort of know this, but the reason im asking is I saw a crap-load of guys with this badge on their custom kit at the epic this year, looks a lot better than the rider badge

Agreed, we used the rider badge, also saw lots of logo's. We never had our kit check once. But have heard from previous years of people having to put duct tape over the logo.

Where did you see this?

8 weeks to go people.

What kind of time/distance are people putting in over the next few weeks?

Also, any tips on bike diets. Running full carbon frame, rims, seat-post and handle bars. XTR pedals. Conti protection tyres (not giving those up) so would like to know where would be the best place to shave some weight?

How much does the bike weigh? If its around 11kgs for full suspension then I don't think you can do much better without spending thousands to save a couple of hundred grams.

8 weeks and I'm still hoping to sneak in...

It's at 11.9kg with 3 cages (Scalpel SI Carbon 2)

Have you entered the Virgin Active comp? Guy in my Cadence class won one, think there are still 2 up for grabs.

That seems heavy. I take its the new 2017 Scalpel 2, red one? I've got the Scalpel 3 and its just over 11kg stock standard with XT pedals, SRAM Garmin mount, 2 x Token cages and new Fabric grips.

Competition is for 2018 event.

Your bike sounds tip top man, maybe some weight on the body? You can still grind a lot of k's in FEB, and if your training plan works out you should be peaking end of FEB and then use the 3 weeks in march to taper it down, good luck

Bike sounds perfect. Don't overdue it on expensive and flashy parts. It's the Epic, it is all about surviving today in order to ride tomorrow. Best 2 pieces of advise I got was:

1: ride within yourself, don't get caught up in the hype and sprint from the gun, unless you going for the win off course

2: you eat today for tomorrow. Don't overdue the gels and sweet stuff, eat as much natural foods as you can.

I also only now became aware of the "not so free anymore" laundry service.

Think there will be some very dissapointed and confused regular riders this year....

You forgot to mention "annoyed" with some preceding expletives...

To be fair, some of the kit came back from the "wash" dirtier that it was sent.  So I had to wash it again... at least this time there will be no expectation.
