Pigeon-knee, never heard of it before

......

It's a reference to being pigeon-toed, google it for the details.... How are your knees hitting your bike that much though? Are you sure your setup is right?

on a road bike (yeah I know just listen ) this kind of knee rotating in can be caused by a very slightly out of position cleat which forces you to rotate your knee (and it usually happens on just one side because you rotate your other hip to compensate although you often don't realize it ) .

 

if you continue to ride while rotating your knee it can lead to long term injury .

so its a bike fit and cleat fit error .

 

if you riding with flats then all above is bull and doesn't help :wacko:

Never had my knees hit the frame in that manner before, what bike is it?

Single pivot morewood shova lt,its the side of the kneeguards that are lightly rubbing the frame

Unfortunately if you're using your knees to nudge the frame in the air, then there will be wear regardless of the brand of kneepad, unless there's a solid plastic cap that protects the side of the pad.

 

What I'd suggest is getting some neoprene (wetsuit material) and gluing or stitching it on to the area where there's rubbage. It won't be pretty, but it'll go a long way to fixing - or at least slowing down - the issue.
