We had a great day out on the short route. A bit of traffic in the first half, but once I got to G Spot, things were nice and open, with the long route race snakes weaving their way through the short route riders. I've not dine much riding on Donnier side, and enjoyed the more unfamiliar trails on that side. Tomorrow should be fast and furious.

I heard there was a death out there today anyone have info, was it heart attack, Sun stroke or an accident?

Don't think it could have been sunstroke. Max temp I recorded was 33 deg which is hot, but not excessively so. Will see if I can find out more.

My friend is doing it and said his registered 36C and that a whole bunch of people on the 60km had 10km removed off the course due to the heat. Perhaps you were through the course faster than them? Edited by Thor Buttox

Did the short route and was done just before 11am, so yes, there would have been riders out there a bit later. The weekend before my garmin hit 40deg at about 10am while I was out riding, so I guess conditioning yourself to ride in hot conditions helps with whether or not you find it hot or not. 87b7bacadd91408d227678d1a9398559.png

Here is my take on the past weekend: My wife went of a cliff on day one, Jonkers almost killed me,then we paddled till our legs was no more. After that the heat drained the last bit of energy out of us as we kept looking for water point 3.(Did run out of water long before we did)  Day 2 was better water points and cooler weather.

Without question one of the hardest and most rewarding events I have done.

Well done Stillwater, we will be there next year again to take another beating!
