Ok, formalities first, some people expressed interest in making a donation to a cause close to Bryne. Anthony and I had a chat, Bryne's cycling "charity" was to service and repair bicycles, for which he didn't charge and gave up a lot of his time. Seeing how the Road Rangers looked after us this morning, and the time they sacrifice to look after cyclists, we thought it fitting that any donations be made to them (you guys also know BDF's view on safety). The funds will go towards training, and radios that the guys need to communicate with each other on the road. To Craig and your team, thank you for what you do!

Thank you to everyone that supported the Forgey family in some way or another in the last couple of days. It was great to see everyone supporting the ride this morning. I think Bryne had a smile on his face watching us ride. Anthony and family, I pray that you will find peace in your hearts over the Festive Season. A special thank you to FormallyKnownAs for the bike assembly and to the Road Rangers that helped today. We would not have been able to have done the ride without you. Be safe everyone over the Festive Season.

Now, about the ride. Thank you to those who made it happen, those who joined and those who shared a moment with Anthony and his family.

The time on the road allowed me to reflect on who Bryne was, his influence on my life, and the impact he had on so many others.

What I've come away with is that he was an all round good human being, and if we all take the time to be good human beings, the world will be a better place.

Spend time with your kids, tell your wife you love her, often, be good to others and don't be afraid to give to strangers. This was the BDF way, and we can all take a leaf out of his book.

I couldn't have said it any better. I also thought while riding and standing at the ghost bike that life is short, make every minute count. Spend it with people that matter to you and just be a happy person.

I don't really know what to say about today's ride.

Only one rider (Stretched@Birth) knew my brother, yet everyone there felt like family.

I was fine until that beautiful lady pulled a bunch of flowers out of her backpack and placed it in the bike frame. Then I was a blubbering mess.

I couldn't see through the tears and I gave my phone to my daughter to carry on filming.

What a man Bryne was!

What honour you showed (and continue to show) him.

Your kindness will never be forgotten. Herma and the kids saw the unedited footage and were most grateful.

My mom was overwhelmed.

My daughter, who is usually very withdrawn in large group settings, felt so comfortable that she stood up and (tearfully) thanked everyone while we had coffee together after the ride.

You (as a community and individually) restore faith in humanity.

The road rangers were fantastic. thank you too.

to "Formallyknownas" and "Stretched@Birth", you guys have been incredible. thank you.

to TALUS, who attended and sponsored breakfast for the road rangers, thank you.

to the hundreds who have sent condolences, offers of help, messages and those that have contributed behind the scenes, thank you.

I don't know how to make nice movies so I downloaded a little app to help me. Here is the (rudimentary) result all 1 minute and 15 seconds of it....

Please, the brevity of the clip is inversely proportional to the family's appreciation.

Enjoy.

Anthony.

Here in Groot Brak Rivier, Western Cape, I sommer started crying ???? because of this video! Well done everyone who did his/her part. May Bryne rest in peace and harmony and he surely smiled upon each and everyone who helped with this day.

Admin (anyone else?), would it be possible to pin/post/incorporate Bryne's cycling safety initiative/pledge/ involvement to make it a formal requirement to register on The Hub? Even if it requires a forced re-registration/validation of account....

Or any other way to formalize his efforts and contributions to cycling?

This was a deeply emotional experience for me because it feeds into my deepest fears. To all involved - I thank you for making me intensely aware of living in the moment. I don't have a fear of dying but I would hate for my family to get that early morning call. We must do what can be done to protect ourselves. To me the rangers are like a massive security blanket and I want them to be there whenever I ride. I will donate to them and add pressure on organising committee's to use them as far as possible
