Hi guys, need some advise, can't decide what rear tire to run on hardtail me weighing 85kg for the ATTA. Have 3 tires lying here already bought.

Fast track control 29 x 2.2

Fast track Grid 29 x 2.2

Racing Ralph snake skin 29 x 2.25

Help would be appreciated

Cheers

Fast Trak Grid. There's some rugged terrain in the first 80km and you don't want to take a chance with the Control. Rather be safe. I'm going with Racing Ralph only because it came with the bike. Might change to Barzo on front. Not overly confident with the Ralphs.

We may have the helicopter in E batch this year.

Isn't there some "elite" starting group in front of A for the top pros? I guess this might be where the little mix up is coming in with riders like Karl and Arianne seeded there?

I would not mind Arianne starting behind me, as then she will have to pass me

Still haven't managed to crack the SASeeding code... Despite doing relatively well in many races on their system the past 2 years including last year's Atta but I'm always seeded middle to back of the field.

Maybe the system is biased towards people doing Advendurance or Trailseeker events?

A bit frustrating to work your way through loads of social & slow riders the first hour or 2.

Rant over *

Looking forward to next Saturday!

Dryland use their own version of the SASeeding system incorporating other Dryland events and UCI points.

Atta is an 'elite' event and scares off most weekend warriors, so it is highly likely that 70% of the field would be A-Batch riders during the Ashburton/Trilseeker series. I guess that a middle/back marker (number 600-800) would finish the race between 7h40 and 8H00. Is that where you fit in?

I remember passing 100 riders in the first 40 km.. and being passed by 200 riders in the last 40 km.

not a big issue, more an annoyance. I'm not a particularly aggressive rider so I prefer not having to make an ass of myself barging past loads of slower riders who are doing the race at a chilled pace.

last year I finished around 200th in just over 7 hours.

Started right at the back of C so I must have passed close to 400 riders during the race?

Again in C this year so if I can get there a bit earlier to start in the front of the batch I only have to pass 200 riders if I aim for 7h00   ^_^
