Does anybody have experience with the 4iiii power meters?

Read DC Rainmaker's review on it, and it looks pretty good.

Also priced very good - Ultegra @ R6250.

Not bad.

August this year it will be 2 years using my 4iiii PM.

I think I’m on my 4th battery (2032 type), with a little over 10,000km logged - need to find the hours but I remember about 80-100 hours per battery, so that’s about 240-300 hours of trouble free power readings.

From the reviews they seem to be good and they supply a few pro teams so that should put your mind at ease.

On the other hand i dont recall seeing an official agent in SA beside bike-addict selling these, with omnico down the road from me stages is my choice as after sales service is most important with these products.

They will all eventually give problems down the line and iam sure you dont want your money to be wasted.

My 2cents

There is an official agent in SA, and present on this forum.

100% agree with you Malpiet.

After sales service is really important, especially if you are spending quite a lot of money.

before the local agent was present, you had the option to buy a preinstalled unit on the left side crank, or to send them your crank and receive it back a few weeks later.

Helps knowing the facts before believing everything everyone tells you.

To revive this thread a little, i have read all of the pages and the conclusion is that training with power meters work. My IDT is the Kickr Snap entry level which shows Power when using it with Trainer Road. Is this Power measurement accurate enough to get the full advantage of training with a power meter? (asking for a friend)

yes.

if you train on IDT (most likely intervals) using the power reading from the unit, then it's perfect. As long as it's consistent, session to session, you'll be fine. Repeatability is key I feel. little point in being asked to put out 200W one day, and 300W the next (in real terms) when the trainer keeps saying it's 200W...

Power readings from wheel on IDT with built in power meter will only be consistent if you ensure the tyre pressure and drum pressure against the tyre is consistent across every workout.

ImO a dumb wheel on trainer with a Crank, pedal or hub based power meter will be far more consistent and repeatable in measurement of force and calculation of power

I’m about to pull the trigger on a 4iii left crank. You still happy with it?

Been using the Giant Power pro power metre so

Far so good.

No need for batteries as u just charge it

So far haven’t noticed any inconsistencies with power readings etc

It came as a stock standard item on my TCR

whats your thoughts on that TCR, assuming its the 2019 spec with Di2 etc ?

I am about to pull the trigger on a 4iiii power meter. I just need some more advice. I do power based interval sessions with a coach on my IDT and i use Training Peaks. I will use the Power Meter only over weekends when i do my outrides, 3 - 4 hour sessions, how much will the use of a Power Meter really benefit me? The outside sessions does not have specific "goals" it just gives avg. Heartrate for example...will i get the full benefit of a PM ??

You can build your event strategy around your power meter readings.

Knowing your various ball-park 4min, 5min etc power figures OUTDOORS is crucial for this. It will definitely be different from what you measure on the IDT, for various reasons. So best to have it on your bike when you do weekend rides.

Make sure to include some all-out efforts on the weekend to know what numbers you can push when your event comes along.

Last thing, don't completely rely on the power meter during training or during the event. Learn to listen to your body and dial it back a little when you sense your body is telling you to stop. But also, try to ignore it and follow that race winning move when you are on the limit, that guy is also on his limit 99percent of the time.
