There's a large number of those adverts which crop up from time to time with those weird user names.

The scammers steal pictures from other adverts.

There was a Campy Chorus mini-groupset for sale recently for USD45 it was a copy of this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/222313654459?ul_noapp=true

I sent the real seller a message asking if he knew about it and he'd already reported the fake listing. I reported it too just to ensure it was taken down.

You will get buyer protection if you use Paypal but it's a waste of time as the advert is not real. They sometimes get their cronies to give them fake feedback.

So in short, don't bother just report the listing.

Par Example:

I have a SRAM Force 22 groupset and I saw the same GS for sale on Ebay for USD48.

I paid a lot more than that for mine.

So I contacted the seller, bearing in mind I hadn't bought or made an offer, this is what I received:

Would you please patience to wait for 25 to 35 days arrive you.

what about ebay buyer protection?

I for one has fallen trap to one of these deals. So what happens is the lot you see for R600 are usually the exact same pictures and description from the ones say that R3000 except the buyer has 0 reviews and not long on the bay. So yes i have bought.... then in a while you get a mail saying that "the seller is no longer available but don't worry you will still get your items" so 2 months go by and you worry and nothing shows at your doors.

At the end yes the buyer protection saved my arse. Just log a ticket saying didn't receive items - seller cant reply cause he is no longer listed. Ebay throws the case in your favor and boom money is refunded by E-bay. Note this was with Paypal.

So actually you have nothing to lose! except a bit of sleep and maybe if buyers protection doesn't go in your favour

Just DON"T BLAME the seller.

You have been warned.

And if it is too good to be true it usually is.

Nothing like a wheel collapsing on you.

...except for time?

I can guarantee you that you won't even see a bit of plastic in the mail.

As Larry pointed out, it's a new member. Also, this seller has 0 positive feedback. The legit cycle-part distributors usually have about 10 000 + ratings and 99% positive feedback.

The only experiment here is how fast PayPal / Ebay will reimburse you from the date and time of the order.

Look, guys, it's Friday; anyone who actually has the stupidity to buy that should be banned from the hub.

The guy copy and pasted a legitimate seller's info, and slapped a cheap price on...

You didn't really think I was serious did you?

I mean there's being a newbie on the hub and being a newbie to cycling-if you fall in the latter category, take this thread very seriously...
