Well done Chavez and Bardet, that's what happens when you don't want to help on the front. Very negative racing!

Froome very aggressive, nice.

It like what some riders do when it's Sagan in a small group... they see it as no reason to work with. .would rather gain nothing than give him an advantage [emoji53]

Rider who impressed me the most today..... Froome with the huge attack and Chavez looked very comfortable no stress at all, didn't struggle one bit.

Loved the finish today, along with the finish yesterday.

The Vuelta is way less predictable than the TDF.

Almost feels like a sequence of Classics following each other the last two days. Looking forward to the rest!

I was out so didn't watch, but I see he appears to have completely collapsed, surely something is wrong,....he is much better than that.

Pace was just too much for him.[emoji22] he almost came to a stand still. . When he started looking at the scenery I knew that oho...he is on a bad bad day and trying to take his mind off things.. sad sad sight.

MAJKA also had a terrible day, he said he felt bad from the start..

Goodness, thats unusual,... I will see if I can catch a replay, it must have been tough,... its not his nature to give up that easily, thats why I thought maybe he was ill or something.

Very possible that he wasn't feeling well..

I didn't watch the start and missed a big chunk leading up to that last climb..so not sure how he was looking before or what the pace was during the stage, but guys were dropped at the foot that climb that you wouldn't think would be dropped there... Sky set ferocious pace on the start of that last climb.

"I had very bad sensations," said Contador, getting right to the point. "Also climbing La Rabassa, I felt it already. I don't know what happened to me, but I felt super, super weak. Even when we went at a relatively calm pace, it was difficult to be there, and I decided to tell Peter (Stetina) just to try to pass the day as well as possible and wait some more days to see. I hope that this is only a bad day, maybe because of the lack of competition.

"Now the most important is to recover and try to find the reason why I had such a bad day before deciding the next tactic. In any case, I want to enjoy this Vuelta; it's the Vuelta where I am the more relaxed in my whole career, and I am enjoying it to the maximum. For sure, I want to be more ahead; I couldn't today, but I'll try on next days."

Just caught the highlights of the day on Eurosport. That pace in the last 30 km was crazy hectic.

Also checked the route for the remaining days. "Damn" is the most polite I can manage. Looks like a route designed by Dr Evil himself. Every day different from the one before; a different pain every day ????.

You know what, kudos. I have days, wait, months like that.

Yikes, I wonder if the Chaves stuff at Le Tour was more mental rather than physical? I think its hard to believe that you go from being dropped just after Tony Martin pops, to staying with a GT winner in an attack no other GC contender can hang on to.

To improve your fitness in less than 5 weeks is crazy.

Must have hit him hard losing his friend and Physio. Shows its not just stomping on the pedals, if the mind is not there the legs wont fire.

Ja and he was also coming back from a knee injury.

Really pleased to see him back smiling and riding so well.

Mental force (will), motivation (hunger) and confidence (belief in one's abilities) are critical to contending.

And those gains are critical at the highest level - everything counts.

That's what makes Sagan such a force. He's resilient and very strong at heart/mind level.
