Rouxenator Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Buddy at work has a dodgy rear tyre so I offered to replace it for him. When he brings in the wheel he says the gears just fell off. Upon closer inspection I see this : How does that even happen? I have experienced broken freehubs before, where you can't pedal forward, this is something new to me.
popcorn_skollie Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Probably a hairline crack that started with some sort impact, seized bearing, stuck pawl. Who knows. The cassette took care of the rest though.
droo Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Happens to Shimano freebodies on a fairly regular basis. Generally due to either not enough material or a manufacturing fault.
