I may be wrong but im pretty damn sure that part of the R390 I paid for the F#$#!@K up a race goes to the roads association, and for that I get to dodge potholes for 97km???
I want to know if part of that cash can now go towards the insurance claim for a new set of ENVE wheels??? Those potholes were beyond bloody ridiculous!!!!

I agree, will never do it again..just not worth it..

I have never hit a pothole before

Today I went through two of them

We had about 4 proper crashes and about 6 flats in AL

Why did you ride AL?

You got ripped off. The rest of us paid R290.

On a serious note, sorry about your wheels.

Va had a serious crash 300m before the end. Luckily had enough time to go off road in the veld. Had to walk the lost 300 - 200m.

Hope they are ok.

It was one of the FullGaz guys, rode DC with us. Had his wheel switched and went down hard. Lots of skin missing nothing broken.

Any news on the guys in the 1st crash less than 5km from the start?

And there was a Northcliff guy lying by the ambulance looking pretty bad when I finished.

My race license expired apparently ,tried sorting it out on Saturday but these guys just refused

The red head gave me and Cameron so much **** ,that we eventually just left with our open seeded numbers

We had a few cases like this in the AL batch....

Quite soon into the race I joked to the others in our bunch that it seems that we should do this race on a MTB next year! The amount of potholes we encountered was ridiculous, and I think where they had one young lady standing INSIDE the pothole waving a flag to warn the cyclists about it was extremely dangerous! Just one cyclist looking down for a moment would have been disasterous.

On the other hand, I am quite proud of my eldest son. He also rode the 50km race (AS starting bunch) with my almost 10 year old Raleigh RC3500 which I passed on to him, and he came 7th overall, and 2nd in his age position! Kudos to him. And not even with real cycling shoes, just takkies and pedals with straps.....

I went for an ambulance ride after the finish.  Lots of blood, and a couple of stitches, but nothing broken.  Rough night sleeping last night.

I now have an xray of pretty much every bone in my body :nuke: :nuke:

Saw a couple of other okes in hospital, one with a dislocated knee.  Eina!

Can you imagine those potholes if the wind was blowing?

Who else here saw the bike skills of the oke going into the field in AL batch?
We were going down a hill at about 60+ and he went in,straight towards a fence..
The whole bunch just stopped pedaling and watched this..looking like a motorcross racer..
He luckily managed to keep the bike up..

Glad to hear no serious injuries! Wishing you a quick recovery!

I think I can consider myself lucky. Being right at the front of the tandem group for most of the race the potholes never affected me. Saw them with enough time and because we where always single file with most of the group sucking wheel the whole way they just followed my line. In a big group its a completely different story, Hate it when okes don't pay attention or don't point out things in the road. TJOPS!

I think some of those holes would've broken my MTB too :whistling:
