had one of my most enjoyable rides yesterday...took each bike out for a ride just to make sure everything was ok (nothing seized) ...no helmet...no strava...no water bottle...no gels...no tool kits...not even a phone...just shorts and a Tshirt...got to the marshmallow  and ended riding the entire hood...jumping pavements...riding through the parks and just had fun...gona be doing that a lot more often.

Awesome - but please wear a helmet next time though!  Accidents can happen so quickly and a helmet can save your life.  By all means leave the rest at home but never the helmet!!!

i agree with you 110 %...but yesterday what started as just a spin up the road and back turned into a 20-30 km hood spin...that feeling flying past all the cars on the wrong side of the road.... hair (what left of it) blowing in the wind...jumping on and off pavements ...making cyclist look like really bad undisciplined  hooligans...man it felt good...lucky i didnt have my club shirt on...i am sure there would have been complaints today ;)

I do that once or twice month  but get the kids in the area to join in . Also guilty of then riding without the helmet .

and i hate drivers when i ride my bicycle...especially the ones who drive like c***s

Sure thing, but adding to their frustration isn't going to help...

As a passionate supporter of Bicycle Safety, I have a massive issue with this.

When you ride like a does like you did yesterday, ee lose all rights to pose a legitimate argument against motorists.

It is actually very easy. You want motorists to adhere to the rules of the road? Well then YOU also need to adhere to the same rules. It applies to BOTH parties.

How many motorists probably commented yesterday. "Jeez look at that effing cyclist acting like a total twat. How can I be expected to respect him on the road?"

That motorist sees a cyclist, not you. Another cyclist acting like a prick on the road.

There are mamy people fighting for our rights as cyclists, please dont stuff it up for everyone.

"a simple thing like a runner who decides to go past on the right instead of sticking to the left ...as i saw happen one morning... could cause a huge pile up"

Your words from another thread where you rabbit on about safety.

But it's different if it's you on the wrong side of the road...

back to boring old straight jacket rides again...kitted out with helmet...bright colored club shirt...the right socks...strava...keeping left and even using hand signals this morning..i did greet the odd person this morning even though i felt so miserable riding the road bike...it was that or sit on the trainer for an hour...the weather was perfect for riding this morning...if i am going to ride the 160 km in December,...best i get better prepared.

I must say it was a pleasure this morning...99 % of the motorist were well behaved...going wide to pass and even had 1 give the double hoot just to let me know he was going to pass.

second to a bus going around a left bend and you stuck in the inside...another place which i have had a close encounter this morning...the on ramp to the freeway...i went straight...put my right hand out to indicate i was going straight and not onto the freeway...people still feel they need to increase speed and quickly pass in front of you :(

still in the double digits 98kg...hopefully this week we will see a a drop to 97 kg.
