The above person has done 5 Attas but seeding seem to be getting worse every year.

As for  myself,

Have always done Atta times of 6:30 to 8hours

This year i have ridden Knysna mtb in a good time, Karoo 2 C in sub 4 and im still in D

 With a 10 1/2 and a 9 1/2 from E, I was surprised to find myself in D this year.

Seems like you need a seeding index of mid 30s from SASeeding to get into A. Don't think seeding is that important, plenty of space to overtake.

Still frustrating and tiresome if you find yourself in the bottom half of the field having to pass 100s of weaker riders that somehow managed to get better seedings than you.

SAseeding has never been kind to me despite doing ok in a number of races recorded on Saseeding (including the Atta itself). I can only guess that maybe the Trailseeker races (which I haven't done) is treated more preferably for your seeding

I haven’t done any trailseeker races in the last 12 months and have not done Atta since 2010 and got a C seeding. I did quite well in PE Plett (the short one) as well as Origin (again the short one). I’m guessing that if you wish to boost your seeding you need to hit a couple of shorter races hard.

Did a 7 hour Atta and finished Top 20 in the hell & back and a few other decent results. Could never get a better seeding than D. Obviously picking the wrong races!

Races like Trailseeker and Sani will help your seeding but bear in mind that seeding also deteriorates over time and you need to race to maintain it.

It seems to be the case, we do not have any Trailseeker races in our area that I am aware of, and traveling for one is not an option at the moment! Trying to pass that many people is frustrating, and you seem to run into a lot of those riders on the first uphill after the first water point, then space becomes a bit of an issue.

They take into account your saseeding.co.za results, so that means most of the MTB races that influence your national seeding (National & Trailseeker series). Other Dryland events, UCI points and previous Atta results also weigh in to your general seeding.

Just remember that the average rider at the Attakwas is an A-batch rider, so expect to be seeded further back if it is your first time riding it.

I've done 5 Atta's, and I've had better seedings before.  I had a baby last year, so when I started in D batch this year I could fully understand it, but after doing a few races this year I expected a somewhat better seeding than D batch, so I am just trying to figger out which races are the races that counts?

So is there anyone from Cape Town that would like to car pool wth me? Leaving the Friday morning\afternoon & plan to return the Saturday after the race, right after we've had a shower & eat something.
