Lots of arseholes in society. Cycling is not immune

The comments on the original post have been somewhat civilized but I imagine will go downhill fast...

Wow, imagine taking that much time to video, edit and then post that clip just to show cyclists skipping red lights on Beach Road.

He would fill DAYS with footage of cars and taxis doing that on Main and Regent rd (one block up). And people are actually in danger.

I work in the area, so know it well.

I am not saying that skipping lights is OK or to distract anyone's attention from it.

I am just amazed at the effort this person has gone to make a thing of it.

The way I see it is that - a car or taxi doing it runs the risk of being caught and fined as their info can be traced. A cyclist is a bit more secure in their anonymity on the road - no consequences for breaking the law (or being an ass). Except they tick off other road users and now all cyclists are evil and don't care.... this video proves otherwise.

Found this on Keino Kammies Cape Talk FB after a colleague commented...

Australia they fine people ridiculous money for that

SA you can literally get away with murder

There is a common lawlessness that prevail in SA and on the roads partly due to the fact that TAXI's for instance drive like maniacs and get away with it so why not me?

No one enforces the law for minor stuff and even major stuff in SA so why would any one be afraid to skip a red light - no consequence

I Promise I have never skipped a red light EVER -promise

Looks like a 50. 50 split, those that behave and those that don't. Cars it's probably closer to 90 percent behave and 10 don't.

It is indefensible.

I see many walkers, joggers and even a lady with a pram going through the red light. Seems Capetonians have lost the plot. What a lawless province. I hope people do not asociate South Africa with that poo poo province. Please DA rectify this once proud place.

Yup.

Cyclists break the law then cry foul.

Motorists break the law then cry foul.

Truckers break the law then cry foul.

Motorbikers break the law then cry foul.

Hmmmm I wonder what the common theme is.....
