What should you be looking for when buying a headset?

No doubt everyone has their own brand preferences but just looking at the cwc site, there's so many options, does this all come down to geometry/handling, raising the bars?

Options depend on your frame's head-tube and your fork's steering tube.

You have to chose the headsets that match your frame spec  to you fork spec.

After that there may be a one to two options left (within a certain brand like Cane Creek) like high or low top collar or a variable head angle headset like Cane Creek's Angleset.

Obviously most brands will have at least one option that goes with your frame/fork combination.

I hope this helps.

Most brands have their SHIS headset chart.

With headsets the name coralates to the quality

Cane creek , Hope And Chris king are defenitely the best of the best and I would spend my money here.

But options from ritchey , token and a few other are probably just as good.

If its for A unique bike buy one of the first 3 I mentioned

I don't think the headset makes any difference to the bike, more expensive ones should last longer. The different shapes will fit different frames

Wait till you have a *** one. You'll know.

Of the 3, cane creek is the cheapest, I've had advice from trusty sources that they are good so I'll go with that.

Give the headset some TLC once in a while, make sure its always snug and it should last you for many K's....

I'll be honest and say I have no clue how to tlc my headset.

Up to this point I've been prone to ride it till it breaks...
