Does anyone know where I can get a spring loaded chain tensioner?

Im sick breaking derailleurs and cages,i want to make my DH bike a single speed,

I also want my bike to be less maintenance and effort,so anyone knows where i can get em?

i see it,so it will deal with chain  growth?

Yes it will to a certain degree, give it a go if you can. Its not a massive investment

doing some research, all the full sus singlespeed dh bikes have a 2 piece tensioner that looks like a derailleur

ive also seen pictures of derailleurs being used as one,no clue where to get one of those...

Get a cheap derailleur, set the limits so that the RD is permanently in the position you want it to be, jimmy rig the cable so that it's in that position all the time (get your RD housing cut just above the derailleur, then run it so that the ferrule (the thing that fits into the shifter) is pressed hard up against the end of the housing. Put your single speed cog and spacers on to get your cog where you want it. Put enough tension into the cable so that your RD is in the right place. Hey presto.

that would work except you dont find cheap short cage derailleurs

my whole idea is to get away from the flimsy things, worst case ill go that route i guess

or if the dam bikeshop actually owned up to selling me a faulty bike....

huh? How is the bike faulty if you're the one smashing RD's?

long story,...the RD kept breaking from the first day i got bike

i put a new one and it stopped but the new one had a twisted chain and that ended it

but when i changed the rd it stopped doing its thing of jamming in spokes,they-re excuse was i ride to rough??

A twisted chain?

Do you run 1x on the front with various chain guides and then a short cage RD on a 9 or 10 speed cassette? Another way of doing it would be to take the lat 3 granny spider away, set your limits and have a 6 or 7 speed.

That way is won't pull into the spokes.

Also, if you are giving it horns on rough terrain, stomping on the pedals and shifting under load while the suspension is compressing (chain growth) you will snap any manner of thing.

Riding rough does not always mean the same as riding hard or riding gnarly awesomeness.... it means you abuse your equipment.

Snapping chains/RD's is 99% user malfunction... If the bike is faulty I would like to see the science behind it.

Yes you do. It depends on the required speed of course but I'm running a 9 speed sora rd

on my dh bike. Costs less than 400. With a saint shifter it works like a charm.

What you really need to find is a spring loaded ISG mounted tensioner.

The Zerode bikes are running a nice one

Roox Roller Coaster might do the trick

Recon you just have a bit of Googling to do in order to find the right too for the job.

You could also just double up, i.e, use the spring loaded tensioner from Rapide with a ISG mounted Guide with a top guide a lower

they gave me a old chain...thats why it was twisted,

i dont get the idea that i can knacker my new bike up but my old one i bought somewhere else takes twice as much abuse and never breaks(with a long cage),kinda seems fishy
