Ya I have to agree with the driver as well, but you can bet certain cyclists will fight it. If he did that with a car and got hit there wouldn't even be a question...

Somewhere on another fred they explain the pecking order of the road.

1. Trucks

2. taxis

3. BMW drivers

4. other cars

5.Prams

and then down there

Cyclists.

Something along those lines.

Here is another not just in SA.

But it is sparking a bit of a debate.

Cyclists in turning only lane not turning and cutting infront of a truck from it's blind spot.

Or truck driver hogging the road and deliberatley hitting cyclist?

Luckily no one was hurt...

Cyclists are 100% at fault here unfortunately. Left hand only lane and a massive truck with an even bigger blindspot... stupidity at it's best if you ask me.

Cyclists are guilty for not obeying the law, their action were blatant.

Truck driver is guilty of attempted murder, his actions were blatant.

He wanted to teach them a lesson.... lets not kid each other.

This is true. But you have to be a moron to play chicken with a truck when you're on a bike... He might have been wrong, won't make the cyclist any less dead if that were to have ended badly. And the truck driver would've gotten away with it legally speaking.

What I do in those situations (left only lanes), is to stop in front of the truck/car while lights are red (and if there is space), otherwise stay behind the truck/car. The cyclist was 100% wrong in going straight in left turn only lane. We cannot as cyclist want to have the same rights as other road users, but not want to follow the same rules that apply to them.

I don't even know if he saw the guy. He is loud and 'angry' because he nearly killed a guy and is completely sh*tting himself but I question he saw the cyclist.

I have driven an arctic on those skinny London roads and you really can't see anything in that blind spot, especially if you are concentrating on staying in your lane and not encroaching on coming traffic.

Those guys highly value their jobs and the guys I know who used to transport our kit all over the country used to be super careful drivers. Chavs, but crazy proud of their records on the job

It's always good having real input like yours.

Perhaps it's my bias towards cyclist, but to me it seems like he accelerated into the cyclist.

However, I will conceded that you would probably know better :)

Oh I agree 100%, you are preaching to the coverted about behaving ourselves if we want to get respect in return.

My point though is that a cyclist acting as a moron doesn't justify somebody running them over on purpose?

Very bold claim you're making there.

So? What's your point, me saying that motorists shouldnt intentionally run cyclists over because they act like idiots is not that controversial.

We have seen it in this thread that a guy ran a cyclist over because he said they threw a bike at his car, it's a general statement about motorist that run cyclists over, it happens, often.

No mate, you not only accused the truck driver, but also condemned him for his actions. That is the bold claim you're making.

Ok, my first post was about the truck driver.

The second one you quoted was a general statement, and I stand by it.

I think the truck driver acted intentionally, Jewbacca brought a new element in and I conceded. Read all my posts before jumping on high horses.

Edit: And please don't selectively quote/edit my posts to suit your stance.
