Side-show Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Excellent route. Certainly more interesting than 947. I'll be back. Suggestion - a lap around Zwartkops race track? Thanks to the Metros and the marshalls. And f*** you to the taxis that pushed they way onto the route. The entry into the parking was obviously pretty much a disaster. Looked like EVERYONE was U-turning in front of the prison. That was VERY dangerous. One entrance into the V'trekker complex was always going to be a problem. Little bit more thought into that would help. How about letting okes park at Swartkops airbase where they park for the airshow and take a little ride up to the start?

Long Wheel Base Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 ASG have already sent out a survey! Put your suggestions through there............................Already done. Gave 9s and 10s for most answers. Also commented about late prize giving. I suspect ASG can call this race a success despite a few minor issues. I seriously hope this becomes one to stay on our calendar.

Now they just need the perfect date to entice a few more out-of-towners to travel to the race.
Long Wheel Base Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 O ja, Not sure I should be complaining about this or if it was rather a blessing in disguise. I recorded 93.8km and 835m ascent. Was riding on the bricks and saw I had 92km so thought we still had 6km of monument grounds, next second the finish line was in front of me. Not sure how they recorded the advertised 1200m ascent but I am glad it was only 800odd.

I think they could add a couple more km and 400m would make it more interesting - not that I would have known as I forgot my computer in my bag in the car - rode on feel - it felt like the hills hurt a lot Comparing a new event to something like 947 is not fair either but some clear goals can definitely be set for next year. I also completed the survey and 1 more thing I could add was getting some porta toilets at the start and parking...would have loved one in the parking afterwards Was also caught by surprise when the finish line jumped in front of me... was looking forward to some sprinting to the line. - which is another issue I raised - maybe a more open finish area/run off - this goes for a lot of events also.

They diverted the route slightly, we couldn't go through Kerkplein due to roadworks. The elevation was bit off, but I saw some people on Strave who got up to 1000m on their Garmin's,
Dogs Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Later in the day, these shoes are not made for walking.....
Fat Boab Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Later in the day, these shoes are not made for walking..... TJ? The +/-8% section? "Run to the hills....!"
Vetplant Posted November 6, 2017 Author Posted November 6, 2017 TJ? The +/-8% section? "Run to the hills....!"more like +/- 15% IMHO...
s14phoenix Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Later in the day, these shoes are not made for walking..... Geesh walking with an aero bike with them token wheels... eish - moar training - MOAR CEMENT!!! Some did try to ride The brave few... TJ? The +/-8% section? "Run to the hills....!" Stampede it seems... was a duathlon even for some. Word advise to all - if you might walk - use LOOK or compatible cleats and get the walking cleat covers - it makes it a lot easier and you save your shoes and cleats from some damage. Honestly I started also thinking about walking at some point...
