Thor Buttox Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 On second thoughts R30 is a bit too low for unleashing a bunch of mountain bikers on the good folk of Sedgefield and Karatara and their roads. I think they are using CSA name in vain, it's the organisers prerogative to charge more but there might be resistance from lack of category entries. After all, 109kms without any single track or dropoffs is sure to be dead boring for guys who usually stop at every summit and after every descent and take a few minutes at the eat all you can water points.POINT OF ORDER Leave Mamil alone.

Seeing that it a separate "race", with fewer numbers, maybe thats the figure that they arrived at for it to make commercial sense. Would you rather the roadies pay more to cover that extra cost, even though they weren't the ones asking for it, doesn't sound fair to me.How do you know the roadies didnt ask for it, maybe they dont want mtbikes in their categories..too slow

This can't become like the organising of the CTCT that gets canned before it starts. When do we roll?
ChUkKy Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 It is not just mtbers on mtbs in road races that are the problem. Mtbers on roadbikes also make me nervous. If I see knees and elbows sticking out the sides all over the place I stay the hell away. Keep it neat and tight or get out the bunch. MTBers generally have bigger balls, thats why the knees are out.

Allrounder Posted April 28, 2017 Posted April 28, 2017 Sho i had a good laugh at these comments. some guys prefer the geo of a MTB but don't like mountain biking. Other guys only have one bike. One would never know without asking them. Perhaps its a bigger challenge for that person to do a sub 5 on a MTB than a sub 4 on a road bike?

I have just phoned the organizers, and they claimed that this is not a final "rule" and that they are waiting for the final say from CSA. So it is not the KCT, but CSA that is discriminating. BS perhaps. The Carnival has a MTB group on their road race and CSA have not said anything AND there is no extra charge.
