There will be another search group this morning Wedneday 3 May, from Hunters Retreat spar parking lot at 08:30, anyone is welcome to help. JP will meet you there and any other planning will be discussed on site.

Hoping agsinst hope that it will be positive but sadly the longer he is missing then the chances for a positive outcome reduce significantly. His poor family and loved ones must be in such a state.

This is tragic... But i fear that the outcome will be similar to that of the chap in the other thread. If foul play was involved it is likely they would have found the body by now

my wife asked me yesterday did I hear about the cyclist?, I said ja on the hub

 

she says the news reports are very conflicting, I didnt look but she mentioned that the time lines didnt add up on when he was seen last and what the wife said she saw him and his shift ,,,this is from my wife who has less interweb interaction than a toddler anyone else see conflicting articles

The cyclist (Micheal) and wife are a close friends of mine.

She was visiting her parents in Cape St Frances at the time. I would assume that this was their routine during night shifts, as their son is about a year old.

She spoke to him on the phone the night before he disappeared.

I have  no other detail

Missing Person :

Police in Kabega Park are investigating the mysterious disappearance of a police Sergeant after his wife reported that she has not heard from husband since last night(30/04)

At this stage information is unclear and all available information is currently been followed up. According to information on hand, Sgt Michael Van der Watt (35) , a policeman at the Motherwell Cluster Tactical Response Team and a cyclist was last seen by a colleague who dropped him off at home on Sunday morning 30/04 after night shift. Neighbours claim to have seen someone leaving the house this morning (1/05) in cycling attire and his bicycle is missing. His cell phone and other personal items were left at home. Police K9 unit and the Air Wing are conducting searches along the cycling route of Draaifontein, Seaview, Schoonmakerskop and Greenbushes. Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Van der Watt or can assist in tracing him is asked to contact SAPS Kabega Park on 041 397 6801/02.

ive been on call as a roadside technician for years(in another life time) but after working a night shift as a police man surely a power nap is needed before heading out?? I suppose one could say he needed to clear his head. Doesnt make sense just hope there is a good ending to this situation ,,again I would hate to be in the friends and families position now
