Thanks for the advice. Will swing by my LBS on the weekend.

May just need a strip down and clean.

Let's not confuse Oom Pawl with the pole measuring that goes on in this free hub.

 

Don't mslead the OP - with a bit of spit and pawlish his bike will be fine.

Writing exams so banned myself from the hub...

 

No do not kill me but this is a Circus Monkey hub. Bought a wheel set from a fellow hubber. These hubs are not well know here but more in Australia and the States.

Back when I started working on my own bike I decided to service my freehub, without really knowing what i was doing.

 

Never use grease on your pawls, only light oil!

 

I learned the hard way that grease is too think so the pawls don't engage properly. Completely stuffed up my freehub on the first big technical climb.

You should be able to get a new driver then, which will be well cheaper than a new hub and wheel rebuild.

 

But you'll have to look online cos I don't think there are any local dealers.

 

Once you've got the part, fitting should be a pretty simple matter.
