Lefty or RS1?

Lefty 2.0 - smoothe as butter. Stiff as a wedding p*ick. Pain in the ass to service. There are rumours a Lefty 3.0 is coming out next year which should be lighter, among other things.

RS-1 - I haven't ridden one, but a close friend says they are pretty good. That being said, he rides a Lefty now...

Any reason you aren't looking at other options?

In the market for a Scalpel 3, but saw a KTM Scarp Prestige today for roughly the same price with RS1. KTM slighty lighter according to manufacturers specs. Now I like both bikes ????

I have an RS1 and was impressed at first, probably novelty.

What I have however started noticing is that under hard braking the wheel twists slightly in the fork, by an amount that's noticeable to the eye.

Going through the buying process again, I would probably take the Scalpel over the Sworks. Lefty over the RS1

Thanks Patchelicious. It seems Lefty is the way to go. That was my initial gut feeling. . . Saw a video on youtube with lefty vs RS1. Can clearly see what you are referring to.

Lefty > RS1

SID > Lefty

Lefty is good but can only be done by agents , RS1 was a good idea that never really materialized into what it needed to be.

The New Sid really is A mind blowing fork.

If you had your mind set to the two above mentioned go with the lefty !

honest question, if lefty is such an amazing piece of kit; why dont you see any on pro / semi pro riders bikes other than Cannondale- purely a sponsorship / affiliation issue?

...now this is an interesting and thought provoking question????

Any experts, or insider info on this?

I see them often op spez epic's , but thats always euro riders (instagram pages) and they usually also have those 4 spoke carbon wheels

like those Bike Ahead 6 spoke numbers on one of the Canyon hardtails? Have definitely not seen any pro racing with anything other spoke wheels.

Pure wondering, if if come down to "this is who we are getting sponsored by" or is the Lefty over hype? (ps- literally only ridden a lefty once- so zero experience here) When last was a Lefty rider on a UCI podium?

i'd guess that it's because in the case of a puncture, the wheel will be a bastard to change out.  you'll have to loosen the brake calipers as well.  whereas with "normal" forks, it's a toolless changeout.

Lefty, IMO. Reason for them not being more common is that a stock lefty wont fit a tapered bead tube - it needs a steerer swap. Also, the fork may look out of place on a different frame brand to some folks. And it is more costly than Reba, Sid and Fox competitors.

fair enough points on the steerer tubes. ito cost; surely not a consideration for the sharp end of the field.... or almost any Epic rider....
